You know when you highlight a galaxy and it has a little banner that shows a image of the level? That's the galaxy banner. In this tutorial, you will learn how to extract them, or import your own.
You will need the zip with all of the tools. Click here Or if you want to convert it easier, use Anthe's converter. Downoad You also need a program that can read dds files (For just viewing) or one that can export TGA without RL Compression (I use GIMP 2.8) ExtractingOpen up the zip you have just downloaded. You should see btidump. (The other .cpp file for it is the source) Extract it to it's own folder. Now, you have to go into ObjectData and find GalaxyInfoTexture.arc Extract it's contents and you should see a lot of btis, with the names corresponding to the galaxy. Now, drag the bti into btidump.exe, and you should get a DDS file. Now, find your image editor and open it up to view the amazing thing known as SMG2 banners. (It probably works the same way in SMG1, but I have to check.) Importing Your OwnSo you want to make your own, huh? Well don't worry, this is just as easy as extracting them. You want to have a 256 x 72 image of your banner that you wish to convert. But take notice, that the left side of the banner fades to white in-game, so make sure to leave space to the left and keep most of your decor you want to show on the right. Now, open your image editor. Once you have finished making your banner, you have to export it to TarGA (TGA) format. When you export, be sure to uncheck RL Compression. Now, put the tga in the same folder as the tga2bti.exe. Open up command prompt, and 'cd' to your directory with the tga and the program. The syntax is this: tga2bti.exe <flag> <inputTGA> <outputbti>
Although, outputbti is not required. It will just print the tga name.
The "flag" is the color format of the TGA. We want the 16-bit RGB, so our flag is -4A3. So, imagine I have a tga named "blarg" tga2bti.exe -4A3 blarg.tga yaytutorial.bti
This would take the tga, and convert it to bti using 16-bit RGB. Then, name your BTI with it's corresponding galaxy and pack the GalaxyInfoTexture arc and test it out! Or if you like stuff being easier, download Anthe's program and drag your PNG image into the exe, and pack as usual. Any questions? Ask below. ~MrRean ____________________ a |

This is the TGA the program creates before converting it. It is right side up. There must be some kind of issue on your side. ____________________ |

Cannot you just open the BTI for the banner in SZS Explorer then import your own image that is 256 x 72 then save and repack? |

How about learning how command line programs work first.
(call the program from command prompt, hint hint) ____________________ |
