Hello everyone,
I was checking out the Super Paper Mario iso and noticed the files are so easy to open, since the files only use sprites, and I thought to myself. Why hasn't anyone released a Riivolution XML for this game? I feel that if someone knows how to make XML documents, they could post one for Super Paper Mario. I feel that a lot of people are thinking the same thing. |

Someone could make a really interesting level hack for this game with the flipping and multiple characters. ____________________ You can tell I'm testing new avatars. Status: Totally didn't change this, nothing to see here. |

The first actual thing is to find where they're stored. :DDD ____________________ a |

I know where the levels are stored, I just don't know their format. Retriever II has figured out part of the format, but not the majority of it. |

I really want to hack this game so bad. I want to AT LEAST edit most of the text in the game to make it cooler. I'm deciding for like more detailed of the orignal text, completely original text to impact the plot, brand new text that tells of a new PLOT (the previous one tells a different way of the orignal plot, and this one tells a new story of a new plot), a derpy text hack with the characters saying stupid shit, or a hilarious adult humor text hack that does comply with the story (or not). |

Just to update everyone on the status of SPM hacking, here's what can be hacked and what can't:
Levels: Can't be viewed or edited. Retriever II has some of the format figured out, but we're still a long way away from level editing. What I have figured out is that the levels are LZ10 compressed U8 archives. Inside are some TPL files for backgrounds, the map (which is map.dat), and camera info. Neither the map nor camera info is reverse engineered. Object Models: Can be viewed, can't be edited. Retriever II gave me a model viewer and extensive docs on the format, but there's no model importer. There's also no need, since new objects require ASM hacks. However, textures can be edited (they're TPLs). Music: Simple to edit. Music files are BRSTMs. Text: Super easy, it's plain text with an XML-like syntax. I still need to experiment with them more, though. |

I think you might wanna add that some of the songs are lowered a full 12 pitchnotches or whatever they are in-game. |

I'm amazed how slow hacking for old 3D games are going... especially for the PM series. We barely made a DENT in PM64, as of now we can only modify text and whatnot in TTYD, and SPM? Seems like almost nothing has happened. It'd be nice to see someone make a texture hack, music mod, or something for the game, though. |

Yes, it's plain brstm's. That's not really that difficult.
I'm super-interested in seeing how these level files work in Super Paper Mario, however. Are they 3D models or are they some sort of tile-based? ____________________ |

If it doesn't have an extension look for a header in a hex editor.
I know these files can be viewed, cause there are TCRF and spriter's resource rips |
