For a while, I have been wanting to edit BDL files such as adding items such as hats on Yoshi. But due to a lack of the bones in the Yoshi model, there is no animation for the Yoshi model AT ALL but this T-Formation pose that he's stuck with, since the fractions and such, weren't imported at all.

That's why we need a BDL-editing plugin to be created so it IS capable of importing everything.

Regarding what's happening now, it's also causing majorly scary glitches.

When Mario or Luigi hops on Yoshi in which Yoshi has his hat included as I said before, your character would disappear with just Yoshi alone, due to a lack of animation and fractions imported. He moves and does all his actions with no animations at all. Using Yoshi's tongue also makes weird stretched up textures appear briefly too. He's just stuck in that same pose when he's in action. Shadows also flicker all over the place like crazy. And when you jump off Yoshi, you'll mostly teleport to other places around the galaxy. It's like as if I broke the game (not really), but it is SUPER annoying and just wish that there will be high enough of some sort of demand and hope that someone out there who is a programmer or whatever is capable of doing this, into making this happen.

Let's see what we can do. And it wouldn't just be for what I am wanting to have, but it can be for anything that others would want to have the desire on adding when it comes to BDL plugins.

Let's see what we can do.

Uh, yeah. What can you do?

Rise enough word for someone out there to make a BDL plugin. But in the meanwhile, I'll try to find something out on my own route. And just hope that I can find such existing tool. But sadly, that's almost near impossible considering nobody wants to even take the time to develop such thing. We can't just throw everything out the window, we need to keep on looking.

People will not start making something just because some random guy asks for it.

a) they will make it if it benefits them in some way
b) they may help you if you start making it

But just posting "we need to make X" and waiting for it to be done, will not work.

You never know.

Where have you ever seen that happen?

Some dude did that with Mario Kart Wii.

No, I mean: where have you ever seen someone make something because some random guy asked for it?

It just happens by coincidence.

Seeing the current state of the SMG scene, you can wait for a good while before it magically happens.

Either that, or you can try to make it happen. I mean, not by making pointless "we need to make it" threads, but by actually trying to make it.

What can I start with?

Learn how your BDL-editing plugin would have to be done. Learn programming. All that.

...You know, we can find programmers that are in Kuribo64.

There actually was a BDL/BMD plugin to Blender or Maya that I found somewhere, but the download link was broken :(.

Here is the link: http://www.emutalk.net/threads/44490-BMD-plugin-for-3D-studio-max-Imports-bones-skinning-animations-and-vertex-colors
And I was wrong; it wasn't for Blender or Maya. It was for 3D Studio Max!

Dammit, the site has archived versions of the page, but they're too new

What if you do an archive of the download link itself?

UPDATE: Never mind, I checked. There are no working link files archived either.

Yes, 'we' can find programmers. Whether they'll be interested is a whole different story.

I suggest you stop saying 'we' unless you are ready to involve yourself in the whole thing.
