2. You just use the search function of your Hex Editor.

But search for what? And by the way, do I need to do any decoding in the Hex Editor?

Search for the text you want to replace. No.

But I don't really know what text I need to replace. Though, I want to be able to change the color of BDLs with colorless textures, so would I look for color values or something? It's a little hard to know what to do.

Wait, did you think I meant editing SMG1 text? If so, sorry about the confusion.

I don't know, but now I remember that there is BRK files that change the color of materials (with the textures on), so you can try to edit them. The color should be in them, but some objects seem to have their color in the BDL, IDK. BRK files are small and simple. Try to look at this thread and play around with the file until you find the color value.

The file I'm currently trying to edit (SupportTico.arc) does not contain any BRK's. I'm pretty sure it's in the BDL, but I've got no idea how to change it. I did manage to get the model to have this glitchy line coming out of it by changing some random values, but that's about it. Fun, but not what I want.

Also in the contents of Tico.arc, there ARE BRK's (like Orange.brk), but I don't really know exactly what to do with them in the hex editor.

The color in the BRK file is in RGB or RGBA, but in hex. So try to look at this tutorial to see how it works and where the color value(s) is. You can convert the hex to a color with programs like Paint, Paint.NET (which I recommend) or an online converter.

I know how hex color values work, but I have no idea where to look inside the file for them.

Could someone please explain areas for SMG2? I know that when you walk through or an event happens in the area, something occurs, but I'm not sure how to set them up.

Sunakaze, I didn't mean adding zones, I meant areas like SwitchArea. I'm not sure where the object should be for it to activate the switch.

Oh, sorry.

"I'm not sure where the object should be for it to activate the switch."

I was referring to the SwitchArea object.

I'm not sure where I should place the SwitchArea and how to set it up to activate a switch.

Set the SW_A to the SwitchArea to something (e.g 10) and set the SW_Appear to the same to the object that you want to appear.

Well, it's not the switch ID's that I don't get. I'm confused on how to choose where the switch area will occur. Am I supposed to walk through the area in the game? If so, how do I place it in whitehole?

For instance, a chomp. How do I set up a SwitchArea so the chomp will be there? I give the area a SW_A of 1 and the chomp a SW_Appear of 1 and it doesn't work.

Use whitehole v1.1.3 or Anarchy to place the area.

I am. I place the area in whitehole and set the SW_A and nothing happens when I walk through it in game.

Did you put the zone on your SD card where you added them or just the galaxy?
