How do they look?

They spawn splash and bubble particles. I'll do some screenshots later.

Wow, I guess a video would be overkill, as those screenies are quite effective :P

They make sounds as well.

Oh :P

Are those sounds heard elsewhere in the game, or are they unused?

...and I'm assuming these effects don't work in SMG2?

Why is it that SMG2 is the more malleable SMG game, but SMG1 has all the cool gameplay mechanics and unused stuff?

They are used. For example DrainPipeBubbleB's sounds are used by EarthenPipeInWater.

They WORK in SMG2, but I'm not sure if the graphics still exist.

Yeah, I still miss the surfing ray, sling pods and bubbles in SMG2.

I may be very wrong and looking at something obvious, but it seems to me like there are a lot of curved paths in Boss Blitz that are unused. That, and I just found a launch star at the end of one of them that isn't connected to any sort of planet. Is this left over from something?

It has a SW_APPEAR of 1010. King Kaliente (the first boss in the galaxy)'s launch star has an SW_APPEAR of 1001. Major Burrows, the next boss, has a launch star of 1030, and Bouldergeist's is 1020. No boss connects to the launch star and no event would make it appear.

Near it is a sling star floating in the middle of nowhere with an SW_APPEAR of 1066.

(Both stars are circled in blue)

Already discovered this months ago. I think the galaxy had a different layout and more bosses (Tarantox, Kamella, Topmaniac, Spiky King Kaliente?).

Spicy King Kaliente still exists in SMG2, but he's unused.

Interesting. Do any of the other bosses still have code in the game?

No. Kamella's fireball model and the beams still exist. That's all

Well, something else I noticed about the boss blitz paths is that they still likely remain in their original layout. I might be able to experiment and determine from the position of the path endpoints which bosses would have been in the original galaxy.
