Credit goes to SnakeBlock for the original RiiMIXED logo!

It has now been two years since I first announced this project, and I figured it's time to give an update. :)

Welcome to New Super Mario Bros. Wii: RiiMIXED, my first ever hacking project!

Features

82 new levels inspired by classic games, old and new

A Secret Exit and Key to find in each level

New World Maps to explore

...some other things...

Welcome aboard!

This looks like an interesting project, but do you have screenshots or something to show off? It'd be cool.

Also, no, this site isn't dead. It's well within its average activity level. It's just that it's a small board. Do you happen to come from SMWC or some other big board?

No; I don't come from any other board. Screenshots will be up soon. :)

EDIT: Screenshots are up!

EDIT: You can now find me on SMWC!

EDIT: And on NSMBHD!

Told you I'd drop feedback here. ;)
I'll be straightforward and explain the problems through screenshots:

Eight definitely works...

I know that, and that's a guideline I've been using. That's not the beginning of the level. :)

Add corresponding corner pieces here please

Don't know what you mean by corresponding corner pieces. If you mean plain caves tiles, heck no. If you'll notice in the Metroid screenshot, the top part's one block wide (though I'm not always faithful to exact design, as you can see in the SMW screenshot comparision, but I try to be). That wouldn't work with cave tiles (one corner with the other corner missing), and for the head-tiles I wanted black stone, and the only thing that appealed to me was the mini pipe for the connecting piece. What do you think I should do?

There's a special tile for this

I know. I thought I covered everything. Well, I just I'll have to look through every nook and cranny again. NRGH!

Why is there a block underneath?

Can't tell. :)

Thanks for the tips! I appreciate it.

These are the corner pieces I meant, along with the proper "ledge-to-wall-links":

I can understand you want your levels to be as identical as possible to their retro originals, but improper tiling just won't do.

I didn't even notice those errors so it would probably make no sense to fix them.

It's like one-pixel cutoff in SNES/NES hacking - no-one cares because it's so minor almost no-one will notice.

No it's not. Improper tiling == improper tiling regardless of the game being modded. A single pixel cutoff is less likely to
be noticed than an entire tile being placed completely wrong. Oh, and before I forget it: http://prntscr.com/67kyb5

This looks interesting, I hope you will eventually finish this hack. Especially excited to see how you're recreate Egg Corridor in it. Also, maybe a Shovel Knight stage? Though all those stages are pretty gimmicky, so I'm not entirely sure if you could recreate one of them in NSMBW...

Thanks! I've heard a lot about Shovel Knight. I'll look into it.

The King Knight, Mole Knight, and Polar Knight stages would probably be the easiest to recreate in NSMBW.

You'll get to play all of World 1! All the new levels, plus the new Toad Houses and Enemy Courses (which will have minor design differences plus a bit of extra stuff). In NSMBW, Peach's Castle allowed you to watch hint movies, but with new levels, these wouldn't really serve a purpose. So, Princess Peach's castle will be a bit different this time. However, you won't be able to see what's new in the demo. You'll just have to wait. :)

IIRC they don't work with custom levels anyway (same for the Super Guide). It loads Mario's "moveset" used in the hint movie and the level the video takes place in. If it's a custom level, weird stuff is going to happen because Mario's "moveset" doesn't cohere with the terrain.

On another note, I'm glad you're working on this so diligently. There are very few (at least NSMBW) hackers who actually manage to get stuff done, especially if it's a one-man-team. I do wonder if you manage to pull off a full hack though. You can always contact me for quality assurance or if you want to know how to do this, that or the other if you want. I know how to do most stuff that doesn't have to do with code edits and I guess I have fairly good level designing capabilities as well. Or at least, a lot of the people in the NSMBW hacking scene think I do.
