I put Mario's model from the original Mario 64 DS so now you can play as classic Mario, so it feels more like the original Sm64. Download (Patch for European rom): https://www.mediafire.com/?e0m4406ic32keat
Also I fixed the patch so it should work now. |

Thanks, and good idea, it'd be interesting to voice Luigi with the angry Brooklyn accent, lol. |

As long as I can find Luigi's head file it's possible, and I haven't been able to replace Yoshi so far but I think he is replaceable. |

What about replacing textures with the original N64 textures? Or even replace things like Koopa the Quich with thier original N64 models. |

It's funny how we're basically downgrading graphics, but I like the idea. ____________________ |

Posted by Russmarrs2 'd be faster to just ask VL-Tone directly. I think the Luigi model isn't part of SM64, it's just modifications to the Mario model done by TT64. Not sure though. I don't really know shit about SM64. Posted by Celestial If you go this way, keep in mind that most of SM64's textures are just grayshades. The colors are vertex colors. Posted by Anthe Heh, it's like those NSMB hacks that aimed at reproducing the look of older SMB games. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by Russmarrs2 You should be able to replace the body as well as the head, just follow my tutorial on replacing models as you did for the Waluigi model. Both head and body models are stored in /ARCHIVE/arc0.narc/data/player/ To get the Luigi model you should be able to use the Project64 plugin "LemD3D8" to dump the current 3D data whilst playing as Luigi. You could then import the resulting VRML model into Blender and extract and export Luigi's model that way. Posted by StapleButter The plugin I mentioned saves the vertex colours so it would be possible if you imported the whole model and not just the textures. Due to how it's dumped there is some clean-up work you need to do to the models first though. |

This would be great in a downgrade hack that added the original stars and level models. |

Posted by Fiachra Thanks, I thought Luigi_head_cap was just the invisible cap model at first since I tried editing its textures in an older version of SM64DSE before I knew how to replace models, and it only had the invisible cap textures at that time, but I just checked again in a newer version of SM64dse, and it seems all the textures are there, which means that it really was the head file . And also thank you for telling me about the LemD3D8 plugin, with it I should be able to rip all the SM64 character models including the Luigi and Wario ones from the Sm64 hacks. Posted by Celestial That sounds like a good idea, although since I'm working on an animated project I don't think I'll have the time, I've always thought the idea of replacing all the DS graphics with the N64 ones is cool. Posted by StapleButter True, I was thinking about replacing Luigi with the Sm64 hack model from Toad's Tool 64. |

I can't seem to get this patch to work correctly. And I'm using a clean, "0022 - Super Mario 64 DS (E)(Wet 'N' Wild)" Rom. I can't seem to find any other varient to the EU rom.
Edit: I found another EU rom, but still getting an error. Will try clean rom patched by latest SM64DSe. Edit2: Failed. I'll just wait until somebody can help me. |

The patch only works with the European rom (the one that only ends in EU) but if you send me your rom I can put the N64 Mario files in it with Sm64dse. |

He must've done something wrong with the patching then, but I added the files to his rom though. |

Posted by Russmarrs2 The patch you;ve provided does not work; I've tried with a clean European ROM and a European ROM after patching it with the editor and both gave the "target window checksum mismatch" error. To produce a proper patch ensure that you set: - Original File: This is the clean, unpatched version of the European ROM - Modified File: Your modified ROM with the edited models - Patch Destination: Choose a name for the *.xdelta file To verify that you are using a correct European ROM, you can verify against this MD5 checksum. |
