I agree with pretty much all of the ideas of this possible change, including post layout stuff. I don't get why people are making a big deal out of removing post layout sidebars. |

I'm fine with this. The only thing I don't like is the no go on the display names. I'm Super-Smasher'-' for a reason. 
But it's your choice, I personally think we should have display names though. I'm even more satisfied with the new Private Threads thingy, kind of like you're managing the thread, like an admin. 
I'm guessing since RVLution is doomed though, they won't have this. Poor RVLution. I'm gonna keep an eye on this until a decision is made. But for now, a +1. My thoughts on this:
Having the option of the Blargboard layout would be awesome! As someone who ikes the side bar that would be really good. I always found profile comments to be confusing, especially when I first joined. PMs are better and can do anything a profile comment can. I will miss them a bit though. Speaking of PM's... PM threads would be amazing! So much better than how it works now! Custom post layout sidebars should stay in my opinion. I don't understand why they should leave. Now I never used display names that much, but they were a nice feature that shouldn't leave. That's pretty much it. |

It seems like everyone who is all for the removal of layout sidebars (at least in this thread) are all people who don't have layouts.
Anthe's problem wouldn't really be resolved with the removal of sidebars alone, besides, it seems as though the block button does its job for him. Post layouts and how they can be fully utilized to create a personal block of aesthetic is just plain fun to do. Would it be possible to make guidelines on how layouts should be utilized, and have more strict quality control? I don't feel as though even this would prevent people from making bad layouts. Making good layouts is showing off and practicing your skill with HTML and CSS. I certainly know that it's helped and entertained me. Besides, most bad layouts don't even use the sidebar. Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

I guess I don't really understand what's going on here, but why are we switching to Acmlmboard again? Is it because of that whole blargboard scandal with all those derpy boards being made?

We never used Acmlmboard. It was ABXD and slowly turned into Blargboard. Main reason is that the current codebase is crapo. Half-finished templatization and other shit I dislike. And yeah, that too. Acmlmboard is also the codebase that satisfies me the most as far as simplicity and speed are concerned. ABXD 1.1.2 is, uh, ancient and somewhat lacking.

If Stapleboard ever did come around, would it also be in PHP, or perhaps something different? From what I have heard, PHP is kinda... eh. |
