It's an idea. Here we want to post reviews and such. It's for CPU, GPU, Hard Disk, Main memory, Soundcard, Motherboard...

Example:

Playing: Mario Kart Wii on Dolphin / 60fps
Data:
* Intel BX80613I7980X Core i7 980X Extreme Edition
* nVidia GeForce 760GTX
* 8GB main memory
* Windows 7 - x86

Are we just using dolphin as a benchmark or anything we want?

BTW, say what res you run dolphin at.

Aren't i7's overkill? I heard i5's function almost the same.

Currently I am an AMD user of the athlon 64 series.
But the result are too bad. Max fps are on dolphin 25fps - 30fps.

Erm you're using an AMD on Dolphin. That's not a good combination x).

Welp, here's my specs:
*CPU - AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-cores (replaced fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO)
*GPU - EVGA NVidia GTX 660 Superclocked 2GB
*RAM - 16 GB Kingston DDR3 1600MHz (2x8GB)
*Mobo - MSi 970A-G46
*Monitor - AOC Q2963PM 29" 2560x1080 21:9 5ms
*Mouse - Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury

Edit, I can recommend all of these parts and peripherals, I can post benchmarks, but not with dolphin, I feel dolphin is bad for benchmarking because of all the variety in settings

At least you don't need any heating in your room, you've got your AMD x)

Not really, the original fan that came with the processor was loud and not good at getting rid of heat, but this new one that I installed (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO) is great at dissipating heat. My CPU usually floats between 60-70ºC max if it's under load.
Sometimes, when it's cold I warm my room with the PC while playing something, but in idle, it doesn't emit much heat. But the same happens with Intel, I don't know where you get this notion that AMD heats up more than Intel, it's false. You might think that because of the incident of AMD processors burning like 10 years ago, but that's not the case anymore, and my processor is great and got it for a great price, beats any Intel in its price range.

You can try to use 3.5 it's a little bit faster with right settings.

Oh, I'm not complaining about the speed of dolphin tho :P
I was saying that Dolphin is too variable when it comes to settings and games, so it wouldn't be a good benchmark. That's all :)

My Intels are around 21° C idle. I don't really max them out however. Need to test that.
Oh, and there are still loads of AMD's which get very very hot and use a shitton of power. Trust me :P

EDIT: Well yes, of course AMD's are cheaper, but they also use a lot more power. You'll eventually pay more for your CPU because of your electricity bill..

Eh, I max out my CPU very rarely, only time I max it out is when rendering videos (rendering takes so little with 8 cores and 4 ghz, its awesome), and only then is the AMD using most of its power. In idle mode, as you may know, the CPU doesn't use much electricity.

I can play NDS games only in 15fps. It's too slow for me. (1x2.6GHZ).
Despite wit JIT DeSumuMe.

What how? How do you get only 15fps on that rig?

2GB main memory and the slowly 2,6GHZ cpu.
