So after using my laptop for a good 3 and a half years, its decided to BSOD about every hour of difficult use. So I figured it was time to get a new computer, this time I'm building a desktop.
So my case arrived today, the Corsair Air 240. It's one of the nicest cases I've seen in person. It's very small and compact for an mATX case so I will be able to expand my build later while still having a nice small computer.
Here's a whole parts list for my build. I'm getting a lot of good deals from Micro Center's Black Friday sales (Its still not even Thanksgiving) so that's why a ton of it is really cheap.

So I'm not completely sure what I should get for the processor. The i5 4670K is probably the best processor for the money right now (especially because its $180 at Micro Center right now), but the i7 4790K is a really good deal at $250. I know the i5 is the best processor for gaming but the problem is that I also want to use Blender, Adobe, and Record and Edit Video and I know that the i7 will help out pretty well in those applications.
So the GPU is the GTX 970. I'm pretty locked down on this, mainly because the insanely low power consumption and massive overclocking headroom. The 980 costs too much more for too little of a performance increase to be worthwhile (even though I love the reference cooler so much). Also because Cycles render in Blender is CUDA based I wanted to go N-Vidia over AMD, although the r9 290x is a pretty good card as well.
I can't wait to put this thing together after Thanksgiving. The processor will be at least two times as good as my laptop and the GPU will be a huge advancement over my laptop and my mom's desktop.
So if there aren't many updates from me its because I'm too afraid to use my laptop because I might just instantly lose all of my progress without warning. So I'll lay low until I get this crazy rig.
