Anything about books can go here. What have you been reading lately, etc.

Right now I'm reading Shakespeare's Hamlet for AP English, and I like it so far.

Prodigy, I'll also have to read Of Mice and Men later in the year. And then Romeo and Juliet or whatever's shitty Turkish version.

Finished reading The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy a few days ago. I liked the weird humor and semi-snarky narration.

Well I just finished up Beowulf today, pretty good book considering it was passed down orally through generations before being written down and translated into modern english after miraculously surviving a library fire. Its pretty funny how many of the names Tolkien had for Lord of the Rings are just directly from old english like I believe that Boromir is just King in modern english, and Ent is giant. Also the last section of the story is pretty much the Hobbit.

Another really good book I read was called Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel. Its an extremely long book, around 900 pages, and written in the style of Victorian English novels. Its about magic and I absolutely loved it and it was super absorbing. If you have a spare month I'd strongly recommend it.

Another good book I read was called The Secret History. I don't know how it was a good book because I hated every character and every aspect of the book. Its a pretty tough book to get though, mainly because of how revolting it is, but there is a lot of good to be taken out of it.

Finished Insurgent about two weeks ago. Reading Allegiant next month. The Divergent series, in my opinion, is decent, but I have read better ones.

Personally I don't like reading, so I haven't read THAT many books. But the ones I have read are usually 300+ pages.

Hamlet is very good, one of Shakespeare's best.

LotR is very well-written. I'm not a huge fan of that genre though so the books weren't incredibly interesting to me.

Beowulf is pretty good (depends on whose translation you read) and I've heard very good things about Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

As for myself, I've been reading P.G. Wodehouse's "Jeeves" stories, as part of an IB project.
