It's nice to see that SMG hacking has gotten a lot better over the past couple of months. Back when SMG2.5 moved in, not many people really wanted to make levels. But now, it's a lot better.

This is NOT a tutorial on how to make one, it's just saying what makes a good level.

First thing is, before you make a level, think about a good design or concept. You can reuse SOME concepts, but don't reuse it over and over and over again. It gets really boring and loses good design.

Second thing, make sure the music/planets/enemies/decor fits the level. Like, don't put a Skeeter in a swamp planet. It isn't logical (Not that Nintendo does that anyways) or anything that wouldn't fit. Make sure that everything fits and looks really nice.

Another thing is, don't leave spaces empty. Put some decor in there or a few enemies. Places that look empty can make a level lose it's good feeling and won't look nice.

Another thing is, if you have leftover paths...use them! Try to put starbits around the level, or put a launch star instead of a pipe. Try to put stuff inbetween launch star paths, it makes it look professional.

If you have any more suggestions, just ask below.

Does it count to reuse some SMG2.5 concepts?

Depends on who used them before. But uh, I guess you can. But you have to ask the original modeler/writer for it to use them.
Or just give credit.

To be safe, know that the revived 2.5 is using Sky High, Coastline Cavern, Solar Coaster, Retro Remix, Toxic Terror, White-Hot, and Trembling Tower, so be careful when using concepts from those.

If I add a Launch Star, I must add paths. I thought paths didn't work and crashed the game. You said that on IRC. o_o Also, if I want to do so the music changes when Mario go to a place like you did in your Challeling Trials Galaxy, how will I do? Add a MusicChangeArea and then?

You probably didn't assign the PathID.

Also, it's in ___GalaxySound.arc

I really don't want to explain anything, but it's something in that file. Look in previous galaxies rather than having everything explained.

Yes I did the PathID. Will it work fine then? I added a Sling Star with paths in QuicksandGalaxy and it wasn't there in the game.

Check to see if you accidentally added it to one of the zones.
