I have made a cover for Super Mario Sunshine DS. I have used option 2.

Option 2 updated to separate 'D' and 'S' and black lines around 'M' and 'A':

Yes that's better! :)

I like the general design of yours, StarLand but there are a few changes I'd make, something like:

Amazing work, nearly Nintendo quality.

I'm excited to see the outcome of this hack.

Wow. That is pretty amazing for cover art. I wonder how this hack will turn out eventually. :D

did you've modified the title screen?

tip: replace the floating wood tabes of the save and load screen with the blocks from SMS, and modify the castle image and put an part of sunshine plaza

I don't suppose Corona Mountain would be that difficult to port. I think Thwomps, Fire Balls, etc could replace the hazards.

You could add custom obstacles relating to it, such as a difficult platforming section, a Metal Cap section replacing the boat part, (Wario cap block) a wing cap section replacing the rocket nozzle part, etc. I think you could make it work.

On another note, would the sand bird part be implemented, just a different concept?

Although, I AM just feeding you ideas that I think are kinda half decent.
By the way, I am interested greatly in this SM64DS hack. The port will probably be so different, it will feel like an entirely new game.

I agree that Corona Mountain wouldn't be difficult to adapt, there'll just be a lot of differences from the original.

It wouldn't be possible to copy the sand bird level, as animated collision maps aren't supported in SM64DS and there's no way to animate lots of separate blocks.

I'm just wondering if it'd look better if you used the Gamecube version of Delfino Plaza in the background.

I'm not saying that your version looks bad, but it is low poly and low-res.

I would suggest this image, but it has too many differences from the original Delfino Plaza.

So is this patch done yet?

Look at the first post. If you don't see a download link there, it's not done.

So, about the level entrances. Since paintings can be inserted via SM64DSe, are you going to edit the textures of them making them look like the M's painted on the buildings. Like Ricco Harbour in the character select house, Bianco Hills on the statue, etc?

Not sure if this has been asked or answered before, but will there be any hidden secrets in the hack which we should keep a lookout for?

edit- 4100 posts x.x

Peyton: Yes, I will be using the animated rainbow-coloured M's for entrances to the Sunshine levels.

Polari: There'll be at least one secret, well hidden level. I'm not giving more details than that though.

I like the sound of "at least" there. Can't wait to hunt for that stuff :P
