So apparently they took Minecraft Classic and improved it. Improvements I could find so far:

* sound works (for whatever reason it doesn't work in regular Classic)
* they say it works better than official Minecraft. It's pretty smooth indeed.
* unlike the barebones Classic server software, it's got several server features, without being bloated like MCZall & co.
* you can change environment parameters server-side and client-side. That is: light color, shadow color, fog color, sky color, clouds, water height...
* noclip is smooth, no more feeling of being snapped to a grid

Nina set up a quick test server and we had some fun on it. Apparently, the server software is lightweight, too. It ran rather well on Nina's Raspberry Pi powered server.

So I'm thinking that it'd run fine on this server, if people are interested :)

Yeah, specifically SMG. Just never have the time to try it out. I've been here a lot to read about it, though.

As per on-topic suggestion: If anybody wants anything added to ClassiCube, suggest it on our github at https://github.com/andrewphorn/ClassiCube-Client (but make sure it hasn't already been suggested!)

We'll look into it and discuss it in our IRC channel, #classicube on irc.esper.net. Same goes for bugs and anything else, really.

It's nice that you guys made it open-source. I know some Java, so I could even send some pull requests if I manage to do something useful :)

This looks interesting. Haven't played Minecraft in a while, but sounds fun.

I wanted to finally do it two days ago. So uh:

day one: upload server software, try to run it. Find out that Mono isn't installed on the server so I can't run the server software. Of course, I need dirbaio to install it. He eventually shows up to do it, but I have to go to bed, so see you tomorrow.
day two: Mono is installed, I configure the server software and launch it. But can't connect to it. The port is closed, makes sense. But once again, it's something only dirbaio can fix.

While it's nice to all be on the same server, Dirbaio Empire, etc..., it sucks to constantly rely on dirbaio to get shit done, especially given how active he is. I'll likely just get my own VPS and move Kuribo64 and everything else on it.
