My own edit on Beat Block Galaxy, and not on Flip-Swap. This level is a bit harder and more fun to play than the original.

Here is the video:

Here is my fixed and better version:

Very cool. Was the black Boo in galaxy 2? As far as I remember he wasn't.

Yes he is :)

Also, that level isn't good. The blocks are all misaligned, but that's not the worst part. There are parts where you just don't know where you're supposed to go. Bad level design.

And the final part isn't edited at all, not original.

And what are Boos and Dry Bones doing in that level? That's... unfitting.

Well I was just trying to give him a complement. This is his very first custom level and it's good for a first. ;) Plus it's good compared to what I have done, which is nothing! :P I am learning how to use blender. Also I now realize the black boos were in Galaxy 2 and you were right, in Boss Blitz! My bad! :P

It's better than nothing at all
Most first levels aren't the best, but at least they tried.

Plus I like that Yoshi, the blimp Yoshi, and the cloud are all in it.

But sometimes less is more. If you stuff your levels full of everything, that leads to bad level design and everything.

Well you guys are right, I should be more positive.

Isn't RainbowMario the guy who couldn't figure out how to run Whitehole, or use Google? He somehow managed to make a level. That's amazing progress.

Having a bunch of powerups doesn't make it a good level. It would've been nice if a Sling Star was put between the Yoshi areas and the Cloud Flower, since as far as I know, Mario is forced to jump off of Yoshi when get gets the Cloud Flower. It's sort of an odd transitision.

Your right. I think this custom level is a bit to hard but it is their first.

Has anyone just maaaybe considered that the prevalence of these kinds of comments on noob levels are why there's no scene for this game?

Just look at RVLution. Having terrible levels is the sign of a healthy hacking scene. You guys keep stepping on the bulb of this flower - just give it a rest. It's not a very good level, but it's there, and that in itself is quite something when it comes to Super Mario Galaxy 2 hacking.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

That's kind of what I said when I started this argument by giving Rainbow Mario a complement.

First of all, the reason why there is no SMG scene is not because we're 'stepping on the bulb of this flower'. Since you quoted RVLution, you should be aware that they do delete terrible levels and hacks. They have a quality standard, too.

The reason why there's no SMG scene is because the entry barrier is too high. The game is very complex for beginners. Noone outside of Nintendo fully knows how the engine works.

I wasn't talking shit on his level. I was pointing out issues I noticed with it. Just because a post isn't the typical "nice work" or some other one word post, doesn't mean it's talking shit. It's giving constructive criticism.

And I was infact being positive later on. The guy went from not even knowing how to do a Google search, to somehow managing to make a level. That is amazing progress and must not be ignored.

I've been following this "argument", and I'd just like to say that I can understand both sides. StapleButter, my first impression of your second comment was that it seemed sarcastic, and it wasn't till this one that I realized it was sincere. I think that was one of the main sources of confusion.

But yeah, the entry barrier is high, but that doesn't mean we should discourage people from learning how to make basic levels. I mean, if it is hard to learn, then it is waaay harder to master. I've been working on a level since I found this site a couple months ago, and I still am nowhere near a "good" level. Or even a "finished" level.

Please it was my first level.

I do congratulate your effort, but you should look into fixing the issues I mentioned in my post.

Try to fix the block alignment, but that part isn't the easiest, I'll grant you. If that can help you, Whitehole lets you fine-tune object coordinates in the left panel.

Just try to make it less hard. There are parts where the player can't see where they should go. Unintuitive level design is bad. But since fixing cameras to give a better view isn't the easiest thing, I'd recommend you modify the level design to make it more intuitive. And/or add coins to guide the player.

Oh and about the enemies: try to use enemies that fit well within the level's theme, if you see what I mean. Boos don't fit well in this level.
