Because it's been on TCRF since forever, and it's been documented. It just hasn't been fully tested until now AFAIK.

Google is your friend. http://tcrf.net/ It's basically a place where people document all the unused and hidden content in games. and I think it's also associated with jul...

Why would jiraira not work in SMG2 just because there is no model? We can add it back in.

Mario Galaxy 2 works differently so you can't move objects and stuff between them. Game engines are too different, UseResource, etc.

People think coding it just copypasting and it will magically work.

It's not like that. Not at all.

Crashdance22- UseResource isn't different than it is in SMG1. It's just a reference file that you can use. Just add the object. Simple.

But once again, just that won't work. It has to be ASM hacked in.

If you would have READ, you would have seen that only the model is missing (from what i've seen on the DB) and through experience with mutliple SMG1 objects, the model doesn't have to be there to have working code.

Why don't YOU read. The whole reason porting code was brought up was because there IS none. What does the ObjectDB have to do with anything? It only says it's in SMG2 is because it's an entry in the ObjNameTable. It has nothing to do with being in the code.

Why don't you listen to what I am saying?

Here's the exact thing from the DB:

"A landmine with a Bowser face on it. Stepping on it makes it explode and hurt Mario. The object then stays burnt out for a few seconds before regenerating. This object doesn't work in SMG2 because its model file is absent from the SMG2 disc."

The last rev was made by Mega-Mario (if you're seeing this post, this is nothing to do with you, don't freak out), but I don't think this was all him judging by 7 revs. It says that it doesn't work in SMG2 because the model file is absent, it doesn't say anything about code.

Well clearly there is some confusion here in the description of that entry. Not worth getting into a fight over though, from what I understand porting objects from one game to another is completely impossible (as MrRean reiterated above). Unless whoever wrote that actually tried swapping the model and got it to work, in which pretty much everything we know about object crossovers is wrong. But again, it should have been clearly written if that's the case. Not blaming anyone, no object I test is fully documented from the start either.

Yeah, bowser landmine doesn't work in SMG2 sorry.

Yes it is possible. It's just complicated.

can we please get back to the purpose of this thread? Not to act like a mod or anything but uh I really don't want this thread to be shut down...

There are two unused launch stars right where Mario starts in honeyhive, one looks like it leads to a planet that was originally there, the other one has like an invisible path or something, I have no idea. They only appear on Star 1 but are both activated by switches that nothing switches on.

Yep. It's weird.

Also, I forgot the name of the 2nd bubble level, but there is an unused fly-in path in CubeBubbleLv2Galaxy

Huh. I know that a launch star appears in that location during star 1 if you jump off of the tree where the power star is and land back on the main planet, but I have no idea what triggers the launch star to appear.

I was playing around with the file selector, and I found that you can actually play on the file select screen if you remove the object. If you place the object in another level, it warps you back to starship Mario when you place it and select the same file you are playing. I put it in puzzle plank. It did something weird. sparkles appear and everything is black. but you can still select a file even though it blends in with the background. It might just be a model thing though I will remove the ScenarioStarter to see what it does.

I have only tested this on Emulator so far (cause I'm lazy) I should hopefully test it on the real hardware soon
