What do you mean? Did he manage to spawn a Toad??

I was talking about how I'd heard about the boo being able to spawn all that stuff before, on the IRC, and StarLight was confused by how we'd found Toads a while after I first heard mention of boos being weird at all. Though I'm glad someone finally documented it.

Also, green launch stars are still in SMG2, but they're part of the normal model. It may be possible to spawn them, but nobody has tried. It's setup the same way as Mario himself is with a texture change file - between the typical orange, pink for the hungry lumas, and then green.

If it isn't possible to spawn it normally, it should be easy to trace down the code for switching between colors, and add more code to load it via an obj_arg. That's a while off though, we still need a lot more research into obj_args and file loading.

I see. Very interesting stuff. The models appear within the Boos themselves when they turn translucent and many are the default size so they stick outside the boo. But I can imagine with, for example Toads and launch stars, that since because specific properties are required for those to work right (paths, message IDs) then it would be difficult or impossible to do.

I meant editing the code for launch stars, because for boos it should be much easier - just use a switch so when it dies it spawns said toad or launch star. That way it can be it's own object and be able to set properties to it. Which I think was their plan all along

Also it it spawns normal, not green launch stars.

Also we could fake the Launch Star Boos into working by using an exterminationswitch with the Boo and having the a seperate launch star appear when it dies.

That's what I said :P
Also, I would have expected it to not work as a green launch star. They wouldn't have made it THAT simple. :P
Cool picture tho o,o

it is possible that the launch star spawns on the place the boo died right? cause you can make the path a little bit away from the planet so that every place will right for launch star to take of

Simply placing a launch star in the same general area would work. Set the SW_APPEAR switch to correspond with the boo's death. Heck, we could even place several object carrying boos in a single area and cause all of them to disappear whenever one vanishes. Then whichever one vanishes will spawn that corresponding object. That would be brilliant in giving the game direction by offering choices to the player. "Do I kill this boo and get a launch star? Or maybe this one for a life mushroom. Wow, that Toad may have some interesting secrets to tell me." That sort of thing. :)

No, it's not possible to spawn it where something happens. I wish it were, I could do so much more, but no. But that's not the point. Back to the topic. I've seen a bcsv file in actorinfo that is a reference file as to rewards, it doesn't actually do anyting, but boos might have one that could tell us if there is something for 13.

I have yet to actually peer into object arc files. It'll give me a reason to try WiiExplorer too. That looks pretty sweet!

You don't nessesarily need WiiExplorer to look into the files lol

But nice find, guys. Good job! :)

Seems like WiiExplorer is the best arc editor. Is it not? I've literally done no dabbling with arc editors.

NWPlayer this is on-topic. Having a "good" arc editor allows me to look at the boo stuff and report more. Just asking for suggestions.

There's WiiNARC (Which compresses your files into yaz0 which is a pain) and WiiExplorer. That's it. But I usually use WiiNARC but WiiExplorer is the better option.

(Okie, can this be switched back to Discoveries, please?)

wow
Major Burrows appears from SMG1 in SMG2.

BUT

He spawns a Power Star in SMG1, but not in SMG2. But the weird thing is...
the star spawns are still there.
It's really interesting.

Maybe because he was in Boss Blitz Galaxy and spawns a Launch Star on defeat? :P

I hope you haven't forgotten that Major Burrows was in SMG2...
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

You don't get it.
I know he is in SMG2. But in his zone on Boss Blitz, the Star Spawns are still there.

FlameGun is a working object! Just glitchy. (It shoots invisible fucking fire and and burns Mario to the touch xD)

Holy crap what IS that thing?? At first I thought you imported something from Nintendogs. Describe glitchy. Maybe we can figure this one out.

it looks like a pig

That pig thing is an object leftover in Super Mario Galaxy files, and is from dk country (returns possibly) or something. Why Nintendo decided they might want to use it is unknown, but it is pretty cool. There are also other leftover objects still in Super Mario Galaxy's files from dk.
