For all of you Windows XP users out there, read at this website:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/end-support-help So unless you upgrade to Vista+ by 4/14/14 you'll be completly exposed. You're on your own from that point forward. But you still have time to make the jump just like I made the big jump to the Wii U. 
Also it says that XP users will continue to recieve Microsoft Security Essentials support until 2015. First of all, Vista doesn't suck. It's a very good operating system, the problem is that it had many changes to the kernel which created incompatibilities with existing software and drivers. Second, he said Vista+, meaning Vista, 7 (which is even better than Vista), or 8 (don't get this, it sucks). |

Just get a new pc. For $400 you get a new windows 8 desktop which will last you at least 3 years if you dont game. Or get a laptop, they are cheap too nowadays. |

You can't chastise me for giving my opinion, and then give one yourself. You saying Windows 8 is superior is as much of an opinion as me saying it sucks. Right now, you look like a big hypocrite. |

Avoiding viruses and other threats is 90% common sense (avoid shady sites etc). The remaining 10% will be covered by a good, up-to-date antivirus. The main issue though, is how long programmers will be willing to support XP. How long you will be getting drivers for your hardware. At some point, you'll be facing cases where you bought some new hardware, and can't find drivers because the vendors only made drivers for Vista and up. I recommend you get Windows 7.
