Since galaxies are starting to get created, I figured I can set up a system for myself and other creators to have their creations approved, but things that can be improved with their level.

It'll mostly be judged on a score level. We will give a level in a PM to 3 other members (I will always judge.) and have them test the level out, and give ratings on certain categories and if the score reaches a certain number, it can be approved for the final.

Here are the fields we can use:

Design In-Game:
Does the design look good in the game?

Galactic Feel:
Does it give the user that "Galactic Feel" the original game brought?

Functionality:
Is the level functional? Camera problems? Bugs? Glitches?

Space (Room Wise):
Does it feel empty? Is there space to be filled in with objects?

Appeal:
Is the level fun? Does the user want to play it over again? Is the level boring at spots?

Each category will be scored from 0-10 based on how it works in each one. (Which will total it up to 200 for all 4 people judging.)

Once that is done, the final scores will either be posted on the correct thread, or PM'ed to the user. Each playtester will give feedback to the creator, and why the gave the level the score they did. If there were any bugs, or glitches, be sure to note that as well.

If the level has under 140 points, it will be a rejected level. (If it has under 100, it will be rejected on site, and the user will not be able to try again. In order to get a 100, it has to be the worse level in history.) The user either has the choice to

A: Give up the level and give it to somebody else.

B: Try to improve the level and resubmit it again to up the score and have it approved.

So, what do you guys think about this system? Comment below, and tell me what I can do to improve this.

Nice system. The final score will be XX/50? (possible 10 for each category?)

Hm, it seems simple in theory, but I can already tell this is going to take a loooooooooooot of work to pull off, since this is the quality check that is going to be /THE/ FINAL GAME. The only thing I want to present for others to discuss in this thread for further consideration is that we should let anyone have input, it shouldn't be limited to 4 certain people, because we've done that kind of stuff in the past and look how that turned out.

As long as people have something CONSTRUCTIVE to say, they should get a say in how good the level is. Which then leads to averages to get it all polished out. We might not even want numbers, TBH. We don't see everybody rating the designs we all make, we give constructive criticism until we all reach a concensus that it's good enough to move on to the next stage.

True. Then again, we can like, host a channel privately for smg2.5 and stream live the levels and 1 person can play it and all the members can get an input. (Then again, damn timezones.)

Now, when we judge created levels, I'm assuming we're judging each *mission*, since different missions for the same galaxy will likely be created at different times by different people. Right?

Also, is there a set group of judges? If not, how will the judges be chosen each time?

Well right now we need to sort out how exactly this will work. Because we can't just go like "Yeah, I like it. Approved."

The team needs to see it for the most feedback.

...right. That's why I'm asking questions about how it'll work xP

How about, if a certain number of people approve, it's passed. Additionally, a certain number of people have to have given their opinion on it.

That could work.

Maybe we can use my livestream idea but we'd have to sort out timezones for that (Unless nobody from the other side of the world is interested in even seeing it...)

I don't think only creators and/or major staff should be able to rate levels. Each member should have the right to say their opinion and be part of the voting.

Here's my idea for a system:

1: a finished/submitted level gets posted on here so everyone can try it, and the creator explains what he was trying to do with the level.

2: We make it so EVERYONE (at least the long-lasting members. Maybe only people with at least 100 posts on the forum can rate?) can give a rating for the level and explain why they gave that rating as well as point out any flaws as well as nice stuff. People whose "ratings" consist of posts only saying "1/10. the level sucks" or "10/10 the level is the best one ever" shouldn't have their ratings count.

3: We set up a time limit for when rating ends. People can change their opinions/ratings whenever they want before the deadline, but then they also have to give a VALID reason for their new opinion).

4: Once rating ends, we sum up the points awarded by all people who rated.

This is the most ideal system I can think of. Anyone in favour or against it? :)

I am in favour of this. (And you spelled "submitted" wrong)

Well the only thing that can go wrong with that is people can not like the level and then arguments can burst out about it and all that shit.

But since I'm the leader of level creation, I can pretty much make the final choice. But arguments still can happen. :P

(And you spelt "favour" wrong and used the wrong form of "spell")

People who start arguments should just have their posts deleted and be given a warning :P

Also like I said everyone would have to give VALID reasons, so even if someone gave a great hack a 1/10 (the worst score) it should still be counted if said person could give a valid and logical explanation for why he/she thinks it was so bad.

And Rean even if you are the Leader of Level Creation you shouldn't be able to approve or reject a level without listening to what other people say too (your vote/opinion would mean much more than most other people's, but it still shouldn't give you absolute control over what levels will be approved and which won't).

This is also only my opinion though. We have to see if people will agree with me :P

Not sure, but it might be time-consuming to get every member to vote.
I actually don't think we need to have a points system. Just a simple yes-no-undecided vote should be fine.
(not with a poll)

1. Level is posted on the board.
2. There's a week to vote, or 15 votes, whichever is shorter. Only longtime members. A good reason is needed, but a detailed review is optional.

The numbers can be adjusted.
And sometimes there's just not much to say, when people posting before you have said a lot.

I know. I wasn't saying that I could instantly reject a level. I can come to a standard based on the community's opinions. (Or voting. It depends on how it turns out.)

I want it to be a fair chance for everybody to have their level looked over by people and seeing feedback.
