Not necessarily...

ATM I'm not sure if I want to mishmash the seasons entirely or just have smaller planets with different seasons on each. I'll probably end up doing a bit of both, but there probably won't be things like flowers in snow and beaches with snowmen. Some planets will probably be half summer half winter or something like that. The seasons will be separate but closer together if you get what I'm saying.

I was thinking about cylindrical rings with gaps (there would be gravity-impacted jumping) and flat rings that also have gaps but since the flat rings act have one way gravity, you can actually fall off. These cylndrical rings and flat rings each have their own seperate seasons.

Too random, and it's not what I'm going for. It's, in a way, the Gusty Garden of the real world - more normal/flatter shapes, and the seasons from the real world come into play. Plus similar music and art style too.

I was only trying to give a "cycle" (ring) idea :/. It eould not have been the majority of the galaxy. Seeems like we have few inspirations for this halaxy as real life and Gusty Garden are pretty much the only in-depth ones.

Cycle as in cycling through the seasons, it has nothing to do with planets besides the art style :P
Another one I should bring up is Tall Trunk with the giant tree that I keep bringing up.
And Maple Treeway from MKW

The giant tree could have a doorway-shaped hole in it thatcbig enough for Mario and Yoshi to fit in. Insude the tree is 3D use if the Blimp fruit.

Something that I nentioned before was the use of Light Yoshi in an autn section. I now notice that leaf playformsmay be random. The platforming section for the Bulb Berry could have similarly narrowed-shaped platforms as in Flash Black. Instead of being made of stone, the Bulb Berry platforms are covered in yellowish-brown grass and falken leaves of various colors.

Hm, the idea of going inside the giant tree that polari used in Buzzing By and that HRE just suggested is growing on me. We could easily make the inside of the tree beautiful as well. I don't think we should use the Bee mushroom here though, as much sense as it makes. Yoshi's powerups and mario by himself should be enough to fill the galaxy.

However, someone is still gonna need to help me with the design for this, I'm thinking of maybe asking Geo. I do think that we could use a version of the leaf raft that looks more like an actual leaf here, though we'd need to duplicate the object, which isn't that big of a deal.

A Maple leaf raft possibly? It can come in green for Sping and Summer, maroon for Fall, and dark brown for Winter. Plus, a Maple leaf raft will three "options" to move it from.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, I like the brownish orange color it is, it looks so pretty. Though I don't think you should use it for all 4 seasons since each season has a different section and concepts to them, but yeah, this could work in the fall part.

For the Summer section, it could have a pool you can swim in. There could even be a Star Chip section in this gakaxy and you would have to get a Star Chip from the bottom of the pool. Basically, the Summer section could be like a country club.

Edit: Though the golf part is in Rolling Rough.

Well yes, that's what I've been planning - Summer is based on Beachy galaxies and therefore will have swimming.

Here goes some brainstorming from the IRC channel.

On this Galaxy, the main planet could be based on a compass, in which each cardinal direction would represent a season, relative to the lesser planet they were pointing at. As a transportation method, the Sling Star might feel a bit more appropriate. On this setting, there could be a silver star hunt, and still on the center planet, there could be a structure the player would have to climb to ultimately reach the fifth one, which could resemble both the Stonehenge in design and the Buoy Base tower in platforming.

What could also be done is have objects with two opposite surfaces Mario could walk on - each with an unique season too, and the gravity inversion gimmicks from Flipsville to switch between those sides. For this specific scenario, maybe a bunny chase mission might be set up, but how it would handle the gravity issue still remains a mystery.

That is actually not that bad of an idea.

Are you thinking of the Stonehenge tower being in between seasons and having seasons on each side, or it having one or no seasons at all?

The gravity inversion section sounds like a good idea too but as you said, the Star Bunny's behaviors are unknown. It might be best to save the Star Bunny for a later section if there is no success.

Huh, a stonehenge-like thing would be cool, especially since Stonehenge was likely used as a calendar.

I was thinking using a main planet (something like the spoiler below) for silver stars in the first star, and the second star with separate planets each with their own season, and it cycles through winter spring summer autumn until the end. (maybe fog in between? like the fog in grandmaster galaxy)

OR... For the second star:
When you get to the part with separate planets (as it should start on the main planet still) there are four medium-sized planets, and sling stars between them to go winter>spring>summer>autumn>winter etc. but there are only four planets, so it's a true cycle. It'll be kind of like a puzzle, and you have to press a certain button on one planet, or flip a certain switch on another, etc. and eventually unlock something (the power star or a launch star to a boss) while using each season's features (summer: beach, ocean, so maybe an underwater switch? winter: snow, ice, so maybe a part where you use the ice flower walk across the frozen water, etc.). So it'd kinda be like four levels in one, except mini-levels.

I'm working on a design right now. I don't think anyone else is?

NWPlayer123 and GeometricExpuldion are working design. I am not sure how far along it is though.

Silver Stars might feel overused for the planet you drew. Star Chips to form a Launch Star could be a better objective.

I kinda like kayybee's image there... it needs a little bit of fleshing out and fixing, of course, but I think it could work well for a first planet.

I think it would be better with star chips because it seems a bit short for a full galaxy in itself. It'll send Mario to a series of other planets with more season-y challenges on them. Sounds alright for a Star 1 in my opinion. Good job :)

Yeah, in my eventual design that I was fleshing out, you'd need to go to several planets to get it long enough, and if they're big enough and encourage exploration, it would be way too long, which may or may not be good.
Yu have given me ideas though, which is always good.

Oops. I think someone told me it wasn't taken. Oh well, I'll work on a different one then.

I think exploration is always a nice feature, but if you're going to encompass exploration on all 4 planets, make sure you're able to continually access all 4 planets (as the main point of exploration is to go anywhere you want, essentially) so maybe have like sling stars that cycle through the planets or something.

(This would make a great purple coin level, I think. I played through SMG1 with the exploration purple coin levels (beach bowl, honeyhive, etc.) and they're much more fun than speed-based ones. A lot more fun.)

Please don't work on another one. Nobody can "reserve" a galaxy, and your ideas being contributed are good ones!
