Then after the last one the launch star can appear on the screen (no symbol on the mouse because secretly you could ground pound it all along :P)

Just do the ground-pound keys thing. No need to get more complex with mice and shit. By itself, it's a good idea. Add more to it, it just becomes gimmicky, unfun, and pointless.
