Your typical boo level, except that this doesn't take place in a mansion...It takes place in a galaxy full of spooky graveyard planets, ferocious traps, and a blasted mansion's pieces, just drifting along in the vacuum of space.

This is one of the galaxies that I'm designing, and...Well, it's incomplete, and I'll finish it when I feel like it :P

Through the Ghostly Graveyard

Mario lands on a spherical, dead-looking planet. There are a few tombstones. The planet is affected by the darkness that was seen in the original 'Super Mario Galaxy 2's' 'Boo Moon' galaxy's first planet. The player can see a few Jack'o Goombas walking around the tombstones. Once he kills them, a launch star appears and takes Mario to the next planet. All though, there is a starbag on the loose in the first planet, along with a few Bomb-Boos that cannot be see because of the darkness... If the player goes into first person view near a large tombstone, they can see the name 'E Gadd' carved on it (Or WHATEVER that guy from Luigi's Mansion's name was)

The planet isn't that big, it's around the size of the planet in Ghostly Galaxy (Or WHATEVER the name of the ghost galaxy in w4 of SMG1's name was) 's Spooky Speedster level (I believe it had 1 dead tree and looked like a skull or something)

Planet 2

Mario lands on a giant 'walkway-ish' looking planet that has trees everywhere. There is a signboard that says "...Run."
As soon as Mario reads it, a giant Big Boo appears and starts following Mario. Although, this wont be easy, as the area is infested with normal Boos. If the player gets hit, there are a few coins to replenish his health. Mario finds the launch star at the end of the area, which is being circled by a circle of Octoboos.

Planet 3

COMING SOON

Planet 4

Mario passes 3 rings composed of about 20 starbits each to reach this planet. When he lands, after he walks a few steps, he finds a statue of Bogmire, which is being circled by a bunch of Bomb Boos. The enemy romp teleporter is on this planet, to the right of where you landed. It takes you to a planet with a few Jack'o Goombas. Killing them before you get teleported back spawns 3 1-up mushrooms. On the Bogmire statue planet, the player can find a few coins and a Healthshroom to replenish Mario's health before he takes a launch star behind the Bogmire statue that takes Mario to the boss- Bouldergeist :3

REST COMING SOON

Leave feedback please :3

This isn't for the main design ideas... :P
This should be in a separate thread for star 1 :P

This is the only design thread...?

Anyway, Polari, how is the signpost going to trigger the Boo? Maybe just when Mario steps forward, but with the signpost having a ring of coins around it. And could you elaborate on the "walkway" part? Like Haunty Halls?

Maybe the third planet should be a bunch of largish, flattish graveyard planets instead, connected with bridges, and with blue fire, torches, lots of gravestones (which some Boos rise from), an area of lots of Swoopers, etc. Plus any traps. Mario has to find a key, then reach the Launch Star/pipe. It would be best to rig the bridge network so that Mario has to travel through most/all the graveyards.

Bouldergeist. :3

Kind of like Haunty Halls, except that it looks more like those haunted and foggy forests that you see in movies :P

hm...I like that idea...I might edit the design to include that part.

blue fire, and maybe we can figure out purple or green. The dark colors are what will stand out the most in a dark spooky galaxy

I already posted this on the Proboards thread, but maybe we can have a puzzle where we group together a LOT of Boos and make only one have a Launch/Sling/Power Star inside?

In SMG1 there was a Boo in Deep Dark which dropped a Star and whose object and model is called TeresaChief. It's technically the same as a Big Boo, but only shrunk to half its size in Deep Dark. This Boo doesn't exist in SMG2 (as the Big Boos there are called TeresaAtomic).
So.... while It would need to be imported I can see the usefulness of having the ability to put almost any objects in Boos (AND have them visible on the outside if we want).

Something which I also consider a very good idea if we're gonna import those Boos are to put the Toad Brigade inside different Boos and then having to save them by beating the Boos. The Toad Brigade always get into trouble anyway so that would be really cool. Like we can also afterwards have the Toad Brigade say that the Boos ate them (Too Violent?).

I can imagine a flat large planet with some gravestones and bats and lots of Boos in the middle. The planet would have 2, 3 or 4 Light Beams which travel slowly around the course and Mario would have to defeat all the Boos and rescue the Toad Brigade. Polari I think that this could possibly be incorporated into your design (maybe it could be the second Planet or maybe third) ;)

The idea with the Boo and the star would be nice for the ending planet.

I also like the idea of a more swamplike area with purple goo, in a similar vein to NSMBU's ghost area in Soda Jungle. The purple goo from the Boom Bunker daredevil run would do nicely.

There's still a whole Star 2 not covered. IMO, the first star should just focus on graveyards and Boos, and having a general spooky atmosphere to set the scene. The second star should be a more...puzzle-ish star, with key puzzles etc.

Maybe the swamp thing could be set in Planet 2, as a part of the chase. Swamp, Boos, fog, chasing, and dead trees in one planet, why not. It would be the same difficulty as the Haunty Halls chase, so the difficulty factor should be toned down, with the fog being thick to compensate.

The Star Boo was proposed to be in the final room of Star 2, I think. (the blasted-apart mansion star)

This is mostly about a mansion, not just boos or graveyards. It's also about the boo mushroom.

The mansion part was really just included because there's not enough ideas for a graveyard galaxy.
Out of the 3 or so ghost galaxies so far (in SMG1/2), all of them have been mansions, disconnected things floating in space, or weird-looking planets.
In my opinion, one mansion star is enough, and that's only because it's supposed to be a haunted blasted-apart mansion, not a regular haunted one.

Actually no the mansion was my main idea for this galaxy, and I would like to keep it as such. We literally have only 2 ghost galaxies and I think that we should use the boo mushroom in both. Also, my idea for the mansion was to show off what we could do with the camera, though it might be kinda iffy. We'll work it out

So, are you going to make this a fully mansion galaxy (jeez, overused concept for ghost galaxies) and throw away Polari's design, or is the "Star 1- Polari's design; Star 2- puzzle theme mansion" thing still the theme?

No, I like Polari's design a lot, but the mansion, yeah, should be second star. I'm not dictating what star HAS to have a mansion, I'm saying that it needs one in general. IDK what puzzles we could think of but it'll need to be pretty creative.

Okay. Thanks for clarifying that. Your post was just worded...kinda strongly...

Well, there was quite a few ideas, I think. Like 5 keys, with one unlocking the right door and the other unlocking a room full of Bomb Boos. It's not too hard.

Yeah, I like the idea of being like luigi's mansion with keys, only this time you have choices. This should be something fun to put together >:)
And yeah, that's a little of my temper there. Not very fun to experience. I'm just so passionate about having my visions come true

Could we position the cameras properly? I don't think Mario actually ever went in a narrow space in SMG2.

We'd also need to arrange the camera properly so that the player can's see the Bomb Boos.

It just seems like something that'd glitch out HORRIBLY...Like, even more than planet plains.

Eh, IDK, the main problem with planet plains is the collision didn't allow the camera to go through it, so it would get stuck at weird angles

I once had the camera spinning at a speed that'd make Dash Yoshi die of dehydration. It wouldn't stop spinning until I longjumped about 3 times away from the area ;~;
