Did you really expect the ability to play against Wii U players using the 3DS versions? :P

Remember that the different versions will have a few different stages and possibly characters too. It would be messed up. Hell if they manage to pull of a good online mode on the 3DS version I'll be happy (Brawl's online was shit, and that was a WII game)

But cross-connectivity would allow swaping and copying of characters and stages. Still few reasons for excuse :P.

And yes, the 3DS version should have a great online mode. We don't want it to be crappy.

No. That would mean the 3ds will have all the wii U stages and viceversa. They also said character customization will be added, and you will be able to send the customized characters to the wii U version (and viceversa)

Also
The reality of the situation unfortunately is that there are certain limitations on the 3DS. The 3DS and Wii U versions of the next Smash Bros will have the same library of characters. So we're forced into the situation where we may need to reduce some characters to a certain degree. but we're really working hard in order to include as many characters as possible.

So the 3ds version is dragging the wii U one....
I mean, really. What limitation could there be in the character roster? Not enough screen space for the character selection screen? :P

I think it has some to do with the 3DS power capabiliy. It is obviously more powerful than the DS but making the characters like in the Wii U version may push the 3DS's capabilities. It could also have something to do with framerate during online matches but that seems unlikely for the 3DS version of SSB4.

I can't believe you think the 3DS will keep up with the Wii U. I mean, the 3DS is still a handheld.

Also, since when is it fair to have an AXE in a fight!?

Explain the possible limitation the 3ds could have :P Too much effects? Too much stuff going on at one time? Im pretty sure they could tinker a bit to make it suitable for the 3ds.

But are we going to limit the Wii U to be as much as the 3DS version. The 3DS is top 3DS, and the Wii U is top Wii U.

Hmmm that looks awesome, but I won't actually bother buying it, since I'm not really that bad with a Wii Remote (or I can just try the GamePad and see if I'll ever get used to it).

May order one myself too.

For the online, have high hopes for NO LAG. That's right. Sakurai made Kid Icarus Uprising for 3DS, and the online battle mode had NO LAG AT ALL.

I kind of doubt that it'll have no lag, but heh. Might as well hope for it. It'd be quite amazing if it didn't have any though.

Not surprised. But it would have been cool to have seen stuff from the new game, instead of being carried over from brawl.

Given the impending release of Pikmin 3, it's a no-brainer to include him. SSBB was what introduced me to a number of different Nintendo franchises when I was a lad and I think Nintendo is using him as a psuedo-advertisement for Pikmin 3. Nevertheless, I wonder if he'll be able to keep his top-tier position in SSB4.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

Umm I actually would rather have the main guy from Pikmin 3 (I forgot his name) instead of olimar but it's still great he's in there.
