Last view: 429 days ago 		It doesn't really matter anyway, 8/8 is the same as 4/4, 2/2, 16/16, etc. It's just differences in the subdivision of measures, which isn't a problem in sequencing programs.

Last view: 1089 days ago 		4/4 is a safe bet for a good piece, but doing something out there like 7/8 or 5/8 (I have played a piece in 5/8) would give it a unique touch, and hold interest for longer.

For this particular galaxy, I think I would go with something more conventional, not 5/8 or 7/8 or anything like that. Since it's a space battle I was thinking more Star Wars-esque.

Anyway, yes, Agent's right, time signatures are important, so let me explain...

Calm and relaxing pieces usually are the ones that take 3/4 time. Look at Bowie's music for lunar lagoon

Boss battles will take something more unorthodox like 5/4 time (Think of bouldergeist)

More orchestral pieces, like Gusty Garden or Fluffy Bluff will take 4/4

March/battle pieces like battlerock of buoy base take 4/4 as well.

Warped Warzone will likely take the last two routes, a fast spacey orchestral piece will a battle feel. Thus, 4/4 time

That chorus sounds nice considering this galaxy's motif. Some sounds feel a bit cheery, but it should be fine. I don't see it as a major problem.
