I have completed the theme for W4. I thought the W4 map theme was kinda meh for the world it was in, so I made my own attempt at a different style. None of the world map themes had jazz, so I did jazz - but Mario Galaxy synth style! ____________________

I think the hi hat gives it some much needed tempo, and pulse. It doesn't subtract from the song in any way IMO. ____________________

Its meant to be a mix of dark and lighthearted. In other words, a transition from W3-W4 I get what you are saying, but the tune isn't THAT dark. It is somewhat dark, but not overly. Just enough where it can get away with a hi-hat beat  ____________________

Yeah, the hi hat can be left behind, but other then that, it still could have a more space and galaxy sounding soundfont. There's still work to be done, IDK how exactly to explain what to change. Maybe make the melody a little more harsh to give it a bit more dark feel is what I kind of want to say, or like shift the tone down a bit, the instrument would also need to be changed for the former. That part at 0:36 would be kinda what I want it to sound like, except darker. The whole thing doesn't fit at all really unless it turned darker. I can hear how you think this would fit but it doesn't really. It could fit MUCH MORE. Plus it doesn't really fit the world or the world map either. I was thinking W5 should have the more sad and ambient theme. W4 isn't supposed to be all that mysterious as W5. My old theme I posted for W5 doesn't matter anymore, as I will make a new one. I kinda see it as this:
World 1: Beta Song 1 World 2: I don't know yet, but something light and introductory. World 3: A piano only piece. World 4: THIS World 5: Something more ambient and mysterious, and make you feel like in deep space. World 6: (Already Approved) Intensity before the final bowser level World 7: Remind you of your triumphant defeat of Bowser, but let you know there is still more to go. I can see your point, but I kind of wanted W5 to have that more depressing and mysterious feel. We can't base the theme just off of stormshine, but the whole world. This theme kind of covers a lot of areas, which is why I made it like that. ____________________

Actually I don't totally agree with the Beta Songs being used in Worlds 1-2. That'd make us seem a bit lazy, reusing music. Meh.
Well anyway, I think mg3's piece is slightly fast for a world map theme... IMO a more laidback, "sad" feel is better. But the mg3's song is okay, I guess. ____________________ Burrow Base design- Text complete. I might try my hand at some art...maybe...eventually...? Bullet Base design- Final Frontier- (collab) There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train. Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys. |

So, this hasn't been brought up in a while, but the rainy world 4 idea is still in play. Even the galaxies fit the theme. The problem is making a piece to fit the different style.
Stormshine is a given, Ground Growth happens because rain makes plants grow, with Solar Coaster, the sun pokes through the clouds, with Dry Boneyard, you would imagine something gloomy and rainy, and it goes on. ____________________ "I hate playing musical chats" ~ Quote of the month |

i can make a rainy theme, definitely if its a can be dramatic and stormy  or thinking more like maudlin and depressing |
