Last view: 144 days ago 		AFAIK nothing. Those plants are special objects that popup when you walk near them (part I'm unsure about) and a listener switch looks to see if all of them are loaded (part I know is true)
Also, we're using flowers for a reason.

Instead of drillin', what about dirt platforms that you have to cover with flowers? It would be somewhat like in Sweet Mystery, where Bulb Yoshi had to go from place to place.

Last view: 1090 days ago 		How about we have a dirt planet in the sky where you can clearly see the star is there. But you are stuck on the ground way below the dirt planet. So Mario would have to grow a beanstalk and platform up there to get the star. Simple.
