Embodiment of Time Can someone lead me to a non-capitalist clothing store? Level: 128 Posts: 2520/5087 EXP: 23824576 Next: 557124 Since: 07-07-12 Last post: 2206 days ago Last view: 768 days ago |
Through the Ghostly Graveyard
Mario lands on a spherical, dead-looking planet. There are a few tombstones. The planet is affected by the darkness that was seen in the original 'Super Mario Galaxy 2's' 'Boo Moon' galaxy's first planet. The player can see a few Jack'o Goombas walking around the tombstones. Once he kills them, a launch star appears and takes Mario to the next planet. All though, there is a starbag on the loose in the first planet, along with a few Bomb-Boos that cannot be see because of the darkness... If the player goes into first person view near a large tombstone, they can see the name 'E Gadd' carved on it (Or WHATEVER that guy from Luigi's Mansion's name was) The planet isn't that big, it's around the size of the planet in Ghostly Galaxy (Or WHATEVER the name of the ghost galaxy in w4 of SMG1's name was) 's Spooky Speedster level (I believe it had 1 dead tree and looked like a skull or something) Planet 2 Mario lands on a giant 'walkway-ish' looking planet that has trees everywhere. There is a signboard that says "...Run." As soon as Mario reads it, a horde of Boos appears and starts following Mario. Although, this wont be easy, as the area is infested with bomb boos Boos. If the player gets hit, there are a few coins to replenish his health. Mario finds the launch star at the end of the area, which is being circled by a circle of Octoboos. Planet 3 Mario lands on a medium-sized, flat-top planet that resembles a graveyard back from the land of reality (Real Life ). Mario quickly finds a Bill Board who says Don't disturb the dead... When our plumber hears this, he immediately launches himself onto one of the 5 graves on the planet. When he spins near the tombstone, nothing happens...But when he ground pounds the grave, the area breaks loose and he falls into a mini-maze. The walls are covered in ancient writing, which seem to have been there even before the Mushroom Kingdom was made. Suddenly, he feels something like wind, except spookier and darker. Once he turns around, he notices a Boo. Before the Boo can hurt him with his ghostly powers or ferocious tongue, Mario flees the scene and quickly starts making his way around the small maze. While running, he notices several more boos, but he quickly petrifies them by looking at them in the eyes. Alas, at the opposite side of the maze, he finds a little end, which contains a launch star. If he takes it, he gets blasted through a small opening and goes back to the land of the unknown... Planet 4 Mario passes 3 rings composed of about 20 starbits each to reach this planet. When he lands, after he walks a few steps on the dusty and dry surface of the planet, he finds a statue of Bogmire, a ghost that his bro Luigi once fought while he was on his way to rescue him in his past adventure, Luigi's Mansion. He notices that there are several bomb-boos circling it, as if they were protecting their god. The enemy romp teleporter is on this planet, to the right of where you landed. It takes you to a planet with about 6 Jack'o Goombas, who seem to be dancing. Killing them before you get teleported back spawns 3 1-up mushrooms in the middle of the planet, and they all start going off in different directions. Back on the Bogmire statue planet, there isn't much else to do, except for ground-pounding a suspicious-looking area a few feet behind the colossal Bogmire statue. If you do ground-pound it, you get 5 coins Planet 5 Mario lands on the balcony of a mansion-like planet with seems to be in the middle of a spooky graveyard. Unfortunately, invisible walls block him from jumping off the balcony and exploring the graveyard. the only thing he can do is use the door that leads to the interior of the mansion. When he does, he finds himself in the middle of a long corridor, and suddenly...King Boo appears. If we can make him talk, his dialogue would be: "Hello, Mario. I see that your troublesome and superior brother is not here to save you this time... And he starts chasing you. While running through the corridor, some doors will open up and Boos will burst out, and also chase after you, to aid their master. Mario will quickly have to go down the staircase at the end of the corridor to not get defeated by the King Boo. On this corridor though, there are barrier walls to stop your progress, though when you approach them, SwitchArea or whatever makes them disappear, allowing Mario to progress. Take another staircase, and you will be on the last floor of the mansion, and it is the toughest of all. Hordes of boos erupt from the rooms, and parts of the floors will break off and drift into space. At the end of this corridor, there is an empty painting which King Boo was suppose to trap you in. On the wall next to it is a large door, which will lead to the graveyard seen earlier. As you leave the mansion, a very short cutscene triggers which allows you to hear the scream of the King Boo and his minions. A few feet ahead, there is a launch star which will take you to PoltaRelayPlanet, a small planetoid with 2 coins, a Luma that says: I heard King Boo entrusted the power star to a fierce ghost, but where could he be...? and a sling star that will take you to a circular graveyard planet... Bossfight As soon as you land on the planet, Bouldergeist forms, and it is clear why King Boo entrusted the Power Star to him. With his intimidating red eyes and powerful rock-attacks, he is a thing to be feared. The battle goes on as normal, except with 2 normal boos also running around the arena this time. ____________________

Polari, I like your design. But there is something I would like to point out.
I would really like to see catacombs incorporated into your design. Maybe under the mansion? And it would make a great Bouldergeist arena. And I do like the King Boo idea a lot, but maybe during the second stage of the Bouldergeist fight, we could add King Boo as well as well as have the 2 normal boos. But we would still have the chase. ____________________

The most King Boo would be able to do is move around on a set path, I'm pretty sure we can't make him home in on you.
And I'm most likely going to put catacombs in Star 2. ____________________

Couldn't we import a normal boo behavior pattern for King Boo during the Bouldergeist fight? And I am fine with the catacombs being in Star 2. I do have to say, this is probably your best design yet. ____________________

I doubt it. Then we'd be able to make new enemies ____________________

All it is is taking a normal boo and editing the textures and adding a crown. Its not like you have to create a new model:/ ____________________

There's only 1 file for normal boos, as far as I remember. Changing 1 of them changes all of them... ____________________

I'm no expert in code, but I have an idea - what if you create a duplicate file for boos, so you can edit the duplicate but keep the original? ____________________

Let's stick with making a design, not changing enemy codes and stuff. Because we can't do all of that stuff, like Polari said. ____________________ (layout nuked; unclosed style tag) |

Maybe so, but if we discover how to work with enemy codes easier, the design could easily benefit from it. ____________________

E. Gadd's tombstone? Nah, I think we should just use generic names like "Timothy Goombason". Also, should there be a moon like the one in Boo Moon, except it looks like the Dark Moon? If King Boo is possible, then there should be friendly Boo and Jack 'o' Goomba NPC's on the Dark Moon. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

"Through the Ghostly Graveyard"? I think we can do better than that...
Polari ik you asked for some feedback from me but I find it hard to judge a design without any art. It would be helpful to see some neat, detailed art for your design, because from what it sounds like this has a high chance of being finalized (In some form) Edit: Post 666 :o |

"Don't disturb the dead.." And Mario does exactly that. I personally think it sounds too mean for Mario to do that. Instead, the Bill Board should say "Boos love to bury their secret with them", as it is secret passages that Mario needs to find. Also, the ancient writing should be Booish (like the sign in Boo's Boneyard). I imagine Booish as using Japanese characters and being a combination of Czech, Japanese, and Romanian. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

Comments:
Starbags? Unexpected but OK. Yes, it's Professor Elvin Gadd, or E.Gadd for short. When he spins near the tombstone, nothing happens...But when he ground pounds the grave, the area breaks loose and he falls into a mini-maze. < IDK how possible that would be unless we either used a model from the actual game somehow, or just make it simple and use the definition to make something breakable with your spin and have it break and trigger a cutscene That ancient writing part could be used very well, if done right. I like how you incorporated my balcony idea, and I think a really zoomed out camera could work well, until you move forward a little bit to go inside the actual mansion. Planet 5 seems REALLY well done, and I think in that last cutscene a dark moon easter egg could easily be put in place. On the last planet, IIRC you have to set a path for octoboos, so we could have a huge circle of them around the arena for effect. Just effect, they serve no other purpose. Keep in mind we should probably use an updated version of the dark bouldergeist texture hack. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All in all, I'd say it's great, it just needs some art to conceptualize all the ideas in the text. ____________________ "I hate playing musical chats" ~ Quote of the month |

Do you like the idea of the Dark Moon I posted above? Since your design is basically complete, if you do want to include it, just make it a small intermediate section like between Planets 2 and 3. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |
