I downloaded Maya, and *wipe off sweat* it is insane. It is almost impossible to render something that actually looks good and not just a blobbed mess, I have no idea how Glem was so professional at making the Planet Plains model, also, texturing is an absolute nightmare.
With all I could do, this is the only thing somewhat reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy I can make.
(That's actually not very reminiscent at all, I know) Also, the Bevel tool that you use to make smooth cubes keeps messing up and saying I need to select a nurbs curve...what the heck is a nurbs curve? |

It's not low poly if you put effort into it. Stahp stereotyping stuff. It's all about how efficient you can be. With sketchup, without plugins, it's all using simple stuff, there is no complex making a shape and then bending it. With blender and maya it's easier and more efficient to do.

Give me an example of a Sketchup model Glem would accept in the game, and i'll take your word for it.
I know you can curve and stuff, but it still ends up drastically low poly, and Sketchup feels really "limited" when you make models. Anyways, this isnt about sketchup, BTT |

I mean, it's not like materials aren't even supported yet in the importer.

You don't actually need too many tools to make good looking 3D models. I made this one using Autodesk Max, but I didn't use anything more than vertex, edge, and face dragging; face subdivision; and occasionally face extrusion. I initially started out with a simple cube and mostly improvised my way up to this (hence the completely random teacup).
Obviously it needs a bit of work, but I've never actually done a lot of modelling - let alone trying to make planets or levels in particular. However, by applying simple modelling concepts it's pretty easy to make just about anything you like. I understand that you want SMG hacking to keep proceeding forward, but why not try to be the one who learns how to use these tools and then creates a guide for it instead of being the one asking for the guide to be made for you. You said that anything is possible for us hackers if we just try, but now it's your turn - Just start with some basic tutorials and I'm sure you'll be able to get the hang of it soon enough. |

The cup would, the other model is better suited for Rolling Rough. |

Yeah. Or we could make the cup move and pour boiling water into each "minibowl" of the other model you mention. It could work in Fast Food ____________________

I'm fine with water, tea, or coffee. But it should be the start of the galaxy as it would be in the morning - which could bring up the idea of having different foods for different times of the day. ____________________
