Whomp King wasn't originally in this level, but he's the closest thing we have to Big Bob-Omb without doing a model swap.

Yeeeah, so basically if we're going to fight him on the mountaintop (like Big Bob-Omb) then we either have to scale him down drastically or have the fight be in a seperate Planet/Arena :P

Just defeat a regular Whomp on top of the mountain to make a Sling Star appear. The Whomp King arena should be based of the Bowser arenas in SM64(DS).

Sounds nice. Maybe we can also include a small Bowser SM64-Stage like segment before the boss too :3 (Or something which is sort of like the Goomboss, Chief Chilly and King Boo stages from SM64DS). tbh Retro Remix's SM64 Representation should be a tad more then just that one Bob-Omb Battlefield planet :P

Maybe after taking that sling star, you get transported to a remake of "Bowser in the Dark World" before you fight Whomp King? :3

It should only have a small part from Bowser in the Dark World. The entire level would too much of an overhaul.

I think making it suddenly send you to a different area would kinda break the immersion..

I agree, just having him on the hill would be good IMO. But MrRean kinda has the final verdict as the Level Creator, he can decide what's possible/efficient.

Yeah, and the problem is that you can leave the bossfight without geavity making you go under the boss or you falling off and dying. In SM64(DS), leaving the bossfight would reset the fight, but in SMS, you could leave most boss fights (Gooper Blooper) with no problem. So a floating arena is the best choice for Whomp King.

We can just make fall boundaries appear during the battle, or invisible walls, or your idea. It's just one less model we have to make, and like I said MrRean will do what he thinks is best. ;)

The model needs to be imported exactly from SM64, or made custom. The one in the trailer has collision and model issues.

Wouldn't it be easier to just make Mario die if he falls off? It would make the boss fight harder.
If that'd be too hard, a ring of ledges slightly below could help him climb back up.
