STAR 1

The Sandy Depths of Topman's Factory

As soon as Mario lands on this sandy galaxy, he realises that only a war could've scattered so much machinery all over this barren land. As he starts walking around, he notices something interesting, a half-buried, rusted Banzai Bill. Behinds it, he finds something that scares him to death. A giant factory-like building, which has a ruined. He also notices something that resembles a door, but it has been blocked off by fallen pieces of sharp steel. Touching it means a sharp pain, and a lose of a wedge of health.

You'll have to find another way in, since it's obvious that there's something in that factory. Suddenly, something triggers an explosion near the back of the factory and you know that that is your next destination. Off you go!

While traveling there, you'll have to dodge wicked pieces of shrapnel and Pokey Heads. Once you get to the back of the factory, you'll notice that there are tons of blasted gaps in the hole, but even though the factory is old, it's automatic defences are still working, which means that cosmic blocks (Retextured, maybe?) keep on blocking your way if you try to go in through them. Instead, you'll have to climb fallen Bill Blasters and deactivated Bullet and Banzai bills to reach the top, where there is a gap who can't get protected because of the shrapnel blocking the way of the cosmic blocks. Lucky, huh?

Although, getting there won't be easy. There are cluckbooms everywhere, and dodging their bombs isn't easy. If you mess up when trying to dodge one, you might plumet down into the dry sand below.

Although, if you DO manage to get to the top and jump through the broken wall, then you'll be facing a ground-pound stone, surrounded by a ring of coins. When you do ground-pound the stone, you realise that it wasn't just a random stone. It was the secret entrance to the factory. Once you break that stone, you go through a tube that was hidden under it which leads you to a small room with a Warp pipe, which takes you to the next area...A PLANET beneath the factory.

When you finally reach solid ground, you notice that there is life on this planet...Topman life. 2 Spiky Topmen immediately greet Mario, by trying to spin the plumber into electric fences that surround the area. Since the two topmen are the elite spikehead Topmen, Mario knows that hitting their heads will do nothing.
If the player manages to beat them, they both give 1 coin, which will heal you up if you suck at battling topmen.
Once you beat them, a launch star will appear, and take you to another section of this humungous but ruined factory
Mario lands on a steel tube-like planet, which has deadly quicksand running through it. Years of damage have caused mass sections of the tube to disappear, and for much of the remaining part to become rusted and unstable. If Mario dares touch the rusted parts, they will quickly fall into the quicksand and disappear (Retextured collapsing platforms from Throwback) There will also be a few Spring Topmen to help Mario get across wide gaps if he's not confident with his long-jumping abilities.
At the end of this dangerous tube, Mario gets to blast through the cosmos again.

The next planet is something that resembles the last planet of the old Dreadnaught Galaxy, except that the player starts off on platforms that are above ground level, which is now filled with quicksand. Mario must platform across a bunch of steel but rusted platforms, jump on moving platforms, and finally reach the last area..

The Battle Arena

3 Topman ships circle this arena, that seems to be full of sand. As soon as you touch it, you are faced with a more evil looking Squizzard, Which seems to now throw pieces of Shrapnel. Beat him to receive your prize.

STAR 2

Mario comes back onto this barren wasteland of a planet, to notice that the Topman factory is now covered in sand. There also seem to be new, but broken pyramids everywhere. It seems like this galaxy has been sent to years into the future, since Mario didn't see any of those things in his last visit to this galaxy. The remaining topmen are trapped inside, and Mario is unable to enter it. He will have to seek out his star elsewhere.

The first thing that he notices is an arrow of starbits that lead Mario farther away from the factory. It seems like Pokey heads are everywhere, and there's no way to tell them apart from normal, harmless plants. After a while, Mario finds a rusted cage with a launch star. Since there is no way to blast it open yet, he journeys on. In the distance, he sees 3 Cluckbooms circling 6 Pokey Heads. Mario'll have to lure one of the Cluckbooms back to the cage, and use the Cluckbomb that comes out of the Cluckboom to blast the cage open. If Mario takes the launch star, he'll be taken to a new planet.

This next planet is made of sand, and is 1.5x bigger than the Fluffy Bluff spherical cosmic clone planet. There are quite a few bullet bill launches laying around. Once Mario starts walking around, he notices that some of these launches are still operational, and that they launch heat-seeking bullet bills. Mario will have to get to the other side of the planet, and take the Warp Pipe that awaits.

Mario comes out of the other end of the pipe, and finds himself inside the planet. It's certainly bigger in the inside, because there's a quiet stream running through the center. It also seems as if plant life is booming. Unfortunately, There are pokey heads mixed in...Again. Mario'll have to kill them all of to make another pipe appear, which will take him to a new planet.

This time, Mario'll land on another desert section. This area, even if it has a ton of shrapnel in the sand, still has enough space to have Rhomps rolling around on set circular paths. Mario'll have to be quick when crossing this treacherous land, because Rhomps are a thing to be feared. If you get run over by them, you say bye-bye to a life and half to start over. In the distance, amazing-looking sand formations can be seen. Unfortunately, there are invisible walls that prevent you from going all the way there. At the end, there seems to be a giant pyramid, which is surrounded by a bone formation exactly like the one from Melty Molten. This also means that you can pass under them without a problem. When you reach the pyramid, you'll have to slowly climb it, backwards somersault after backwards somersault. But there are also Cluckbooms flying around, protecting the treasured star that's inside the pyramid, which you can only reach by using the Warp Pipe at the top of the pyramid. When you use it, you end up in a small room inside the pyramid, which only has 1 treasure chest and 2 circling, and respawning, Green Koopas. steal one of their shells and hurl it at the chest to claim your prize.

I know that you're following Astro's original idea... but I feel as though this galaxy should be untouched by Bowser.

Oh, so I should remove the part with the Bowser emblem? Ok. I thought that you were ok with Astro's idea.

I like his idea, I just don't think that Bowser should be involved. It makes no difference on the actual design of the level other than having a bowser emblem removed.

If the Bowser Emblem isn't obvious, it may serve as a semi-decent easter egg.

Hmm... Topmaniac may be a good boss here, because it'd go well with the topmen that Polari suggested ;)

Erm. Importing Topmaniac from SMG1 is impossible, I think. Something with his body being 2 seperate objects, I think.
The Topmen should be retextured if possible, but the design's nice. But maybe the entrance could be guarded by lopsided Thwomps and Banzai Bill Blasters instead. :P

Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys.

I've mostly finished the rest of the design, but I'm afraid that it turned out a bit too mechanical...

To those who want to see part of it...

[Warning, horrible art incoming!]

EDIT: NVM

Hmmm.
I was thinking of something more like Lanayru.
The design is very linear, and not much takes place inside the fortress...
Perhaps it should focus less on the Topmen. Maybe a search for a key in the deserts outside (Bullet Bill Launchers, quicksand, cacti, shrapnel), then into the fortress (quicksand seeped in). Desert/mechanical to mechanical/desert.

He added a design for Star 2 but it didn't show up as New on the forum, so I posted so people would check the thread :P

Anyway, I think the design should be more on the ground. Possibly it could occupy a large section of a planet.
The launcher element should be somewhat like the remains of Megahammer in Boomsday Bunker. A good ploy would be similar ruins with launchers scattered everywhere, but with only a few actually active, so the Bullet Bills coming out are actually a suprise/ambush.

We don't want to turn this into SM642.5.

And save the multiple launch stars for Riddle Ruins...

... what multiple launch stars?

I think he's talking about bullet bill launchers.

I have an idea. I think there should be a giant pyramid that you have to climb to the top and enter inside to "reconquer" the pyramid. There are Bullet Blasters on the pyramid that shoot homing Bullet Bills down at Mario. This is like in mountain battles where the military force on top of the mountain (in this case, Bowser) have an advantage. The Megaleg fight somewhat did this this in SMG1.

Pyramids have been attempted a lot. We should do something a little more Hellish for this galaxy, kind of like a desert-junkyard. Having a really blurry effect in the air would complete the atmosphere. This could be an amazing galaxy.
