No polls, the modeler will decide once the full design is figured out. Something silly like textures is totally up to the modeler.

Red or yellow. Green or blue make no sense in this context. It shouldn't even be yellow because the sun will be largely yellow but... oh well. Red is the best option here, it won't look out of place but it also won't blend into the sun or anything else in the background. Also it's a familiar color for modern rollercoasters.

Edit: I'm just going to finalize this and say red since I don't want us to end up like Sonic 2 HD arguing over a color for weeks.

I do agree red is quite fitting. I think yellow should be a secondary color (ik it's primary xD) where words or designs ON the coaster are needed. So, let's focus on incorporating this into a full design

Okay, we've got enough ideas, now let's stop messing about and get this level done. I'm thinking that I'm going to start dividing level creation into phases, starting with Level Design and its 3 phases:

Phase 1: Brainstorming
Phase 2: Outline
Phase 3: Full designs

Phase 1 is done, now onto Phase 2. Write up brief outlines for the actions that will take place in stars 1, 2, and 3. Detail which planets Mario will go to (pulling from the brainstorm ideas in this thread) though you don't need to detail exactly what the planets will be like. Just their order.

Star 1: Linear amusement part
Star 2: Roller Coaster
Star 3: Coaster Comet

Now, write the outlines for that, we should have it done by the weekend!

Here are some good ideas for names:

Star 1: "Stoppin' in the Sun Park"
Star 2: "The great Solar Coaster"
Star 3: "Coaster leftovers"

PS. Rise and Shine Silver Stars, Solar Coaster's Blazing Tracks, Solar Coaster's Corkscrew Coins.

Anyway, this isn't the time for names, outlines, guys. Actual orders for pieces of the level to be in.

Star #1 could be based on Nintendolamd and Stars#2/3 could be based on Wipeout.

A Wipeout-like level will just simply be an obstacle course. Racing is perfect for a Speedy Comet (I hate those).

I think its been decided that Star 1 will be a linear amusement park, Star 2 will be a roller coaster to the sun of this galaxy, and the Comet is purple coins on the coaster.

Yeah, I literally said EXACTLY what we need to do right now. Pull from our pool of ideas and decide the planets' basic designs and their order, that's all. No star names, no new course ideas...

Ok, so I actually think the amusement park should be broken down, and the player has to platform across all the rides to reach the star. It would allow for some interesting platforming in an amusement park. (This isn't a new planet, as it will be only for star 1.) Platforming across the broken out-of-control rides would be a great way to have Star 1.

The Main planet (Amusement park) and the Roller Coaster should somehow be connected, but not TOO connected. The roller coaster would go at a vertical angle and head to the main sun of the galaxy. Tbh I don't know how the roller coaster should be designed, but it should be designed int a way to make it unique and not feel like a Hightail Falls re-reg. The sun is at the very top of the galaxy and houses Star 2.

The Comet mission would see 150 Purple Coins on the Roller Coaster - and the player has to collect 100. It would be similar to StarShine Beach's Purple coins mission.

Also, on the second star, Mario should be able to venture off to the fixed Amusement park if he chooses. It would be entirely optional, but it would be a nice variant for those who like to explore.
