Here is a possible story:

Warped Roomzone Galaxy is the home of the Whittles. They have made vacuum cleaner spaceships and smart TV spaceships. "The CD" are a splinter cell of their own alien race (The CD's alien race, not the Whittles alien race). The Koopa Troop hired them to invade Warped Roomzone. The CD also has ties with the HellValletSkyTree people, the flying saucer, and the Shy Guy Ghost Face. It seems like The CD did very bad things before because they literally turn Warped Roomzone into a Warped Warzone. The CD's appearance, where they are from, and what their spacecrafts look like is never revealed in the hack. Their spaceships are invisible and the shooting of shells does not reveal the design. It is the player's choice to decide. Then, Mario arrives in the galaxy.

I actually don't think there should be many normal enemies in here...
Just a huge barrage of everything that can be blasted coming from 2 enormous battleships, mutilating a planet which drifted between them.

Mario is on Starshrooms that have been modified for battle. One of them has a cannon that you use to shoot yourself to an airship. Moving mines present a hazard for shooting out of the cannon.
