The beanstalk would be the Coaster. I think its a good idea.

I still don't understand where this beanstalk idea came from. I don't see the relation. I guess I haven't been paying attention or something. Could you explain further?

REPOST

This galaxy will have an upbeat feel to it.

This Galaxy should be one of the few that only has 1 main mission star.

Planets: There would only be two: Coaster Planet (which mostly has Yoshi Dashing upwards on a beanstalk-like roller coaster)

And the Sun (You don't touch it, but the star is right on the surface, meaning you have to fall to reach the star. Touching the sun will result in instant death.)

Mission 1: Dashing to the Sun

You would start at the base of the Coaster Planet. The coaster is mostly vertical. At first, it is a simple, easy dash up. But 1/4 of the way in, things get tougher as some of the beanstalk begins to rot away. Then there is a checkpoint resting spot. The 3rd quarter of the beanstalk-coaster has flames starting to appear (due to being near the sun.) The final part is right near the sun, and you must actually land on the sun to get the star (almost land however.)

If possible, other amusement park rides can be incorporated into the level, like having a ferris wheel, merry-go-round, and other rides on the base of the coaster to the sun.

The background should be daytime. No doubt about it. There should also be plenty of upbeat touches to represent the amusment park feel.

That doesn't explain why the coaster is a beanstalk >.<

No Beanstalk :P
Just no, idea gone
The coaster should be wooden, and have small water sections to show off Yoshi's dashing abilities

water? Hell yes. You could be jesus and walk on the water with dash yoshi. We could make that work with several ways. It would just need to be incorprated into the final design.

Fine. I just thought it would be cool to have the coaster be a beanstalk. What about the idea of the coaster heading to the sun?

I actually put water in my first design

So this galaxy should have a wooden coaster like dashing section with a bit of water I take it?

I thought it would be cool for it to be a giant steal tube with see-though glass.

Hmm, good idea, but we still don't know if we can model see-through glass.

can't you use the glass from the cages that you break using bombs?

Erm, well, I'm no expert, but the cages are an object. Like, you can put it anywhere you like, but you can't take it apart or chop it in half or anything like that.

Anyway, I only suggested the coin gathering idea because it would make an excuse to visit the other parts of the park. I mean, I was thinking of something like the Hungry Luma wanting 50 coins, and each area having about 30 coins each, so there'd be no need to visit all of them, or completely clean out one area.
But...oh well.
Any other ideas to get the player to visit the other "attractions" of the "park"? A simple coaster would be unoriginal.

Those are objects. They're pre-made.

See-through glass works just fine with a texture that is transparent. Don't doubt the programmers :P

The rollercoaster shouldn't be wood, that'll look bad nearly any way we do it. It should be a modern, metal, red coaster.

Fun to look at, fun to play on.

I'm fine with the coaster reaching the sun. If we do that, the coaster could loop around the sun (once we get to the sun, we'll mess with the gravity a bit to make that possible. Probably starship mario gravity where you stick to everything you touch). A linear amusement park level can be done quite easily, and it doesn't have to look unprofessional. We can find inventive ways to keep stuff floating. Maybe balloons hold up the carosel, or maybe the bounce house rests on a cloud. That's for concept artists to figure out.

Yes, there is pinpoint gravity that lets you stick to anything. I know from when you and I worked on the old Lava Lair, with that one pill-shaped planet with teh fans.
I like this idea a lot more then I used to

But we have to at least make it have some room on the coaster so you can dash on it. Yes, this galaxy should be linear. Open world theme park levels can be HELL. And I was actually thinking green for the color...
