You think the red star is hard to navigate? It is actually quite easy and fun IMO. Now the flying cap... THAT is hard to navigate with.

The Red Star is very easy to use compared to the Wing Cap. But the fact that you have to use the Red Star means the hub will be way harder to navigate than Delfino Plaza's Shine Gate top; just like the Comet Observatory.

Remember Dego's Try-Out? Maybe the concept could come back.

Well how about we have secret areas for the red stars, but no important areas. SMG1 kinda screwed us by making us use it to get to the top :3

Gah. The Mega-Starshroom would be a good hub to START OUT with. It would certainly be easier to model than a fancy ship 5 levels high.
Loads of other planets accessible by earned powerups could be added, world by world.

Here are the current concepts:

-Have Starship Mario and/or a Mega Starshroom be a part of it
-Make it homey
-Have some height like 2-3 floors
-Possibly even a few buildings like a "mini Delfino Plaza"
-Have power-ups as optional uses
-Add more planets as each world is visted

So pretty much, the hub has multiple sections.

For the power-ups, the Red Star would be part if it but most people, including me, say that the Red Star should be completely optional as in it does not need to used to streamline navigation of the hub.

It was just one of my earlier suggestions :P.

Since Delfino Plaza is popular, I suggested the possibility of something city-like or homey. Since the hub may as well be huge (Glem said have Starship Mario and/or a Mega-Starshroom be part of the hub) and it may as well have planets, then there could possibly be room for a small city section and a home section.

I agree. Having a mini city with Lumas, Toads, etc. would be so much fun! :D

My idea: Mario starts out his journey with only a small starshroom (3 at very most) and a ragtag crew of toads. As he progresses and helps more people in the cosmos, they (Gearmos, Whittles, Bob-Ombs, etc) join him on his journey with one of their own ships. By the time he reaches the final level, Mario has built up a fleet of starships ready to combat Bowser's forces. Perhaps the final level could even feature the various ships as planets, where the NPCs help Mario reach Bowser!

Reasons why this idea is awesome:
- It fits with the space theme.
- The hub will gradually expand outward rather than simply unlocking new areas of the already-existing hub.
- Each additional NPC ship will be a unique experience; for example, the Gearmos would have a very mechanical ship with some machinery showing, while the Whittles would have a very basic ship with a more natural theme, perhaps even with trees, grass, and water.
- The ships could be used in the final level to tie in the importance of other characters to the outcome of the story.
- It shows a kind of basic story progression, with Mario gaining allies as he helps people he meets.
- Bonus Moral: Help others and they will help you, because that's what friendship is for :3

I think there should also be an aircraft carrier-like mothership that you can explore. It should be no bigger than Delfino Plaza. As for when in the game the mothership comes in, we should discuss that.

Why would we do that...? Everything must have a purpose. There is no exploring randomness. Even with the main starship that Mario and his friends inhabit will be the most grand by the game and have a ton to explore, it still is their home. The same with any other ships that join your fleet throughout the game. Unless it has an actual purpose, no :P

Well you guys haven't really shown you can be creative enough to make it good in most galaxies, all you do is bitch and fight. Maybe if something changed or glem himself worked on it I might think differently.

Anyway we need to stay on topic. Agent, can you further explain the hub itself? I like the idea but I'm not sure the hub is enjoyable
