So I did make a revision to my last attempt at this design, but still, MoreCowbell did a design, and there were certain aspects I loved. I did find some of the planets he designed kinda iffy, but the overall scope of the design was great. This is not a collab, but me using some of his ideas (I am crediting him) into my design. So without further ado, here We go.

Star 1:

The background will change from Star 1 to Star 2. Star 1 uses the complex background, while Star 2 (not in this design) will feature a more simple background. Since there are 2 comets (which act as planets) in the galaxy, a lava and ice comet, the background will be essentially built around these comets, The lava comet is on the left side of the galaxy, and the icy comet is on the right side of the galaxy. the background sort of compliments the comets. There is a blue/sky blue background (representing ice) on the side of the Lava comet. On this side, there are also falling icicles. The other side with the ice comet has a bright red/orange background. Fireballs being shooted upwards (from an unknown source) are also present on this side. You can think of this as 2 hemispheres of the galaxy, the western (Lava comet w/ ice BG), and eastern (Ice comet w/ lava BG) hemispheres. There are transition areas in the center. There will be a small speck of neutral pink or purple in the northern central area of the BG, and the southern central area on the BG. I will do a color palette drawing of how the background will be colored, as it will be complex to pull off.

Mario lands on the Ice Comet to start the mission. Right off the bat, there are some enemies here. They are simple, mainly goombas and some octoombas, and even 1 Cinurr. There are also some pits containing frozen water (an element I would like to keep to a minimum. This was MC's idea, but I will be taking it even further. The Ice Comet is essentially one large "egg"-shaped planet made of ice, with a large tail that cannot be touched (it is like touching electricity). The Comet features several pools of water, which must be avoided. There are 2 torches that must be lighten - and there are 2 fire flowers surrounding the tail. These fire flowers not only will help Mario light the torches, but will also help him defeat some of the enemies on the comet without risking a jump into icy water. Once lit, the torches make the launch star appear. Instead of the fire flower, the player can also use the 1 Cindurr to light them, similar to the way Melty Molten handled that. At the other end of the comet where the launch star is, there is a "ring" of icy water surrounding the center, which contains the launch star. Mario needs to long jump to the other side. Mario takes the launch star to go to the next planet.

Mario then lands on the lava comet. This comet is blisteringly hot, and almost the entire surface is lava. Mario lands on a small rock. There are lots of enemies on this comet as well. This time, paragoombas, and flipbugs are present, as a couple of Burrs. There is an ice flower on the starting platform of the comet. Aside from the enemies, there are few obstacles, except for a circular circumference of stone that surrounds the hole that will contain a launch star. Mario will have to jump in icy form over the rock circumference to go down the hole. But to make the launch star appear, there are 5 star chips scattered across the comet. They are on the surface of the comet, but the challenge getting them would be all of the enemies. In addition to the star chips, there is a comet medal high up above the surface. Mario must do a triple jump on the ice flower to reach it, or pull off a side jump and get momentum off of the paragoomba right below it. The lava comet once again has the large tail that will hurt Mario if he touches it, and the side opposite of it has the launch star. If Mario goes in the hole while there is no launch star - too bad! He will... die.

The next planet is a large, bent cave (which will take advantage of gravity). The top of the cave is all lice, while the inside is all lava. When Mario is transitioning from the lava planet to the cave, Mario will not be able to see the cave planet at all, as the wind rapidly picks up, and fog emerges. Mario lands on the lower third of the cave planet (the lower third is the lowest, upright section, the middle section is the bent section due to gravity, and the top section is the uppermost, flat section). So Mario lands at the far end, the lower section. Since this part is supposed to be "Where the hell am I" type of section, the music won't be the normal music. It will most likely not use music, but could use a very different, special ambient piece. The inspiration here is Twilight Princess's Snowpeak, which was a VERY effective emotional little section in that game. So to guide Mario, there is a light in the distance. Mario cannot fall off of the edge, as there are walls. But it is so foggy, it is hard to see them. Once Mario gets to the middle section on the top of the cave, the gravity won't be in effect (it will INSIDE the cave). There will be frozen platforms Mario must jump on to get to the top section. As Mario gets to the top section, the fog and wind start to diminish (it is still there from seeing the rest of the galaxy). Mario then can see a hole, and it appears to be the only way out of this winter hell.

Mario then reaches the inside of the cave. The music kicks back up, and the inside is all lava (the pure opposite of the top). In the inside of the cave, Mario is still at the top third. So this third of the inside will feature just simple (but still difficult) platforming to get to the center. Then, gravity kicks up, and Mario then approaches the next section. There is one path going straight across this gravity-turned middle section of the cave. But as Mario starts to cross, Fire Shooters start up. Then, Fireballs and Poodooboos come out of the lava. It is a simple matter of watching their timing to get across. Mario eventually reaches the final, lower third of the cave. The gravity switches upright, and this section involves some of Mario's most deadly enemies - Magmaarghs. There are 3 paths of rock, and 1 Magmaargh will try go to random paths to hit Mario. Near the end, it eventually becomes 2 Magmaarghs (Mario has to be on the path without the Magmaarghs). Mario reaches the end, and there is a hole and launch star to take Mario to his next destination.

The final section of this galaxy is sort of an obstacle course of sorts. This is essentially a road planet made of ice. (There is a lava road after that). You could think of it as an ice skating roller coaster. In the second star, this "roller coaster" will become a full blown slide. So Mario starts skating on the "coaster". There is gravity here, so there will not be any slope resistances on hills that go up or down. An icy loop approaches, and there are icicles on the edges of the track. They will try to fall on Mario all at once (a cool effect with gravity having icicles fall on you when you are upside down). Then, the track encloses. Things get a bit trickier now, with holes in the ice present. Fortunately, Mario is surrounded by ice, so more gravity kicks in. Then, Mario reaches a small transition cave. This cave has Mario finish the ice slide, but pick up the good ol' ice flower to begin the next part - the lava track. This track is more difficult because it requires Mario to pick up ice flowers just for the purpose of not dying. This lava track is slightly shorter, and Mario exits the cave when he starts the lava track. Its starts out in the open, which then has a spiraling twist. After that, the track becomes enclosed, with lava. A lava vortex. Wow, now that is cool. With the ice flower, Mario faces a new threat - banzai bills. They come at Mario , so he has to move around the enclosed vortex to avoid them. Near the end of the track, Magmaarghs approach. Mario gets to the end platform and claims his prize - a power star!

Well, this revised design took me hours to do. I hope you all like it, as I tried to keep things within limits while still pushing them in some way, shape or form. I will get to star 2 eventually, and I hope to do artwork too!

I'm liking this design except for the maze section, which just sounds boring. Again I'm not sure what the planets are shaped like so I'm looking forward to drawings to clear that up; I realize it's hard to describe 3D objects using only words.

Well... what should I replace it with? Its only a small part of the galaxy so it can easily be swapped.

Maybe just have it be a more difficult linear section rather than a maze. Keep the same ideas but only have one path.

So you essentially took my design, replaced my very thought through planet 3 with the boring cave you said you would take out, and slightly changed my also thought through skating slide.

Congratz on a great design?

FYI I did revamp the cave (I still need to fix the maze section though), I used a TRACK instead of a slide, where it is all skating. And I did change up the comets quite a bit. And the cave isn't boring anymore, I made the top of the cave actually have some meaning (a chilly meaning), and I made the interior (minus the maze) much better, with linear platforming and the addition of a Maagmaargh challenge.

My slide was all skating too. We told you on the irc, instead of trying to take MY design and make it better, let me and Polari take the design and work on it. Go do a galaxy that isn't taken. I'll make art tonight, and we can improve it from then. Let me also remind you that I told you not to take my ideas.

You said you didn't care, and I did credit you. My idea for Star 1 is NOT A SLIDE! AT ALL! My Star 2 will have the slide. My idea is just a prolonged skating path that acts like a slide, but is still much more of a path (more like a coaster) than a slide.

You said slide. A slide is when Mario starts up top and descends. My "Track" stays overall flat (there are twists/bumps). And please, lets stop arguing. I am not trying to copy you, just expand on your ideas.

Just let me do my design -.-
I really have no clue why you're so obsessed with making a "perfect design" or whatever you call it

MoreCowbell stop catfighting with MG3 like I've said multiple times already. MG3 posted his design well before you did, so you were really the one designing an already taken galaxy. Besides, if MG3's design is so similar to yours, you should like it! Because as I'm sure you know, the designs are for the quality of the hack, not the personal satisfaction of the designer :3

IMO MC, you could let Polari make a finalized version with all the ideas included, if you want to let him.

Hmm, not a bad idea, but I still need to work out the inconsistancies for my Star 2 design. Then, we can talk.

I kept telling MG3 that designing a galaxy someone else was already designing was a fucking waste of time. God does he listen well.
