Sounds really intetesting! I especially like the background description and the maze. However, the melting ice on the final planet sounds a bit too complex.

Erm...
The maze...I don't quite get what you mean. Like many fireballs moving around to be the walls?
The shrinking planet...not sure if it's possible.

There are some good ideas here, but I don't think it'll be approved. This particular galaxy has some pretty high expectations for designs.

A barely noticeable ice crack that has to be ground-pounded? Um...No.

And well, this star is really short, there so much we can do with this galaxy >:o

*tonight

And am I the only one who thinks that we're overusing mazes...?

In my mind, it is not a short level, as the planets are large. I can remove the maze section and replace it with something else. The slide I think is fine as it is, but I will make adjustments to the Sun planet so it can work without having it melt. For some reason, I thought it would be possible to pull off that. I knew going into this design it would need adjustments. I would like some feedback: Should the maze be removed entirely or simply reworked? And another question: Would it be possible to have the sun planet turn from ice to lava gradually? (lava spots would develop and grow larger). So I am not giving up on this design quite yet, as it does have some great parts, but I will rework the stuff that needs improvement.

The maze should just have Cosmic Clones and Fire Shooters. The star (sun), I don't know but Shiverburn switched though between lava and though.

Can you please specify a bit more?

Think of a normal maze. Now replace the walls with stacks of Fire Shooters that are always releasing flames. Then of course, Cosmic Clones chase you there.

That was my idea. But do you think it is too complex? I could shorten that part up a bit. And another thing is - I could put cosmic clones in the main mission, and do an entirely new second star. What do you think?

Maybe just a little shorter though, but not much shorter. I think Cosmic Clones should only be in some parts of the main mission (like the maze), but if you want to make a different Star 2, go ahead.

I can actually agree with you. So I will delete the first post and post a revision (I will fix the maze section, and the frozen sun section.)

Don't forget the background! That background idea sounds beautiful.

Flarefrost Star 1 REVISED:

Star 1: The Twin Suns

I have taken feedback and am now fixing the weak areas in my design. NOTE: The Cave top, the slide, and the BG will stay the same, but the cave interior, and the sun planet will change.

The background will be a unique one. There will essentially be a left and a right to the background. Each side has a massive comet (the left will have a fiery comet, and the right will have an ice comet). You can think of the two sides as a Western and Eastern Hemisphere. The Western Hemisphere (fiery comet) will have a blue/skyblue background, and the Eastern Hemisphere will have a Red/Orange Background. The area in between will have a mix of colors. Pink will be in the Northern area, and Purple will be in the Southern area. Stars will be present in these "transition areas". There will also be falling icicles in the Western Hemisphere, and speeding fireballs in the Eastern Hemisphere. Wow, this will be a complex background to make (it is very colorful and will require lots of blending to make it work, not to mention fireball and icicle animation), but will be a beautiful work of art once completed.

On to the Level, Mario starts off on a starshroom. Below him, the cave planet is visible. It is covered with a thick layer of thick ice (you can't see through it) with some lava patches. Mario takes the launch star to the cave planet. He lands on the top. Any fall, and it is game over. Mario should skate here, and it is simple initially, but he must then avoid the lava patches. He must keep in motion too, or a meteor will hit him (they will fall, but only hit Mario if he stops moving). At the far end of the top of the cave planet, the Meteors will now hit Mario regardless of the conditions, and there is more lava. At the end of this section, there is a hole. Mario lands on a rock, hits a checkpoint and there is a fiery/icy maze here.

When Mario reaches the inside of the cave, it is slightly more lava leaning, when the top of the cave was more ice-leaning. There is ice and lava at the surface. The cave itself is a maze, although it looks quite easy at first glance. There are fire shooters here as well, but not too many. They are mainly there to prevent Mario from speeding through the level. The maze isn't too big, and the ice is the area you can step on. It gets tricky because the ice is slippery, and skating is not recommended here due to being able to be hit by a fire shooter. Halfway in the maze, Mario sees that the opposite door has 2 torches - and there is a fire flower right there. But he can't jump to the door quite yet. There is more lava/ice maze Mario must complete, but faster, as the fire flower has a time limit. Mario lights the 2 torches and now he goes through the door.

Once Mario gets through the door, a launch star takes him through a hole (the cave planet is done) even further down the galaxy - to a large slide. The thing itself is intimidating to look at - and is broken up into 2 parts. There is a checkpoint on the starting area. The first part of the slide starts off as mostly ice, with some holes. Then, the holes widen and are filled with lava. Meteors come raining down, and some fireballs circle the slide. Cindurrs and Burrs can be found here too. There is a resting platform for the second part of the slide. The ice flower is acquired, and the 2nd part is mostly lava. It is a simple matter of skating down, but it becomes difficult, when more meteors come, and the slide gets all jagged and thinner. A tunnel section with gravity approaches and this section is hell - there are lots of fireballs, Burrs, Cindurrs, and holes to mess you up. Eventually Mario lands on a platform to take him to the end platform, which has a launch star. There is a checkpoint here.

The launch star takes Mario to a very large sun made of lava that has two icy rings around it (think of an atom, but with the center being all lava and the two rings being ice). Fire shooters make their way around the lava center. There is lots of gravity here, with the rings each having their own independent gravity. The rings are 2 paths that go all the way around the planet. Once I get to a drawing, it will make sense. the first ring is lower, and the second ring is higher. Mario lands on the second ring. There is enough clearance to safely skate, but there is a high risk of falling off of the ring and landing in the deadly center. Mario must get from the second ring to the first ring (they do intersect), without falling. The first ring has much less room.. Once on the first ring, Mario must now collect the 5 star chips that are on this ring. There are deadly Burrs and Cindurrs here as well to mess up Mario. To avoid them, Mario must jump while skating. Once the star chips have been collected, Mario takes a launch star to the final planet - a frozen sun. This planet has no obstacles, has the fiery center the last sun planet had, but the outside is made of all ice. It is a perfect blend of both lava and ice. The power star is here too, and the first mission has been completed:

This draft fixes the issue of the last sun planet I made being impossible. It also makes the maze less difficult, while adding another, harmless planet (the second sun planet). I have decided to ditch a comet/secret star, and do an original second star. It will make re-use of the cave planet, but add cosmic clones to the mix (it will be a much shorter run through this planet). Also, I will add plenty of new planets for the bulk of the second star. Someone (forgot who) said my Star 1 would be too short, but it won't. Here is how I would classify Star 1 for length:

Starshroom: 5-10 seconds
Top of the cave: about 1 minute
Inside the cave: about 2 minutes
Slide: about 2 minutes
First (deadly) sun: about 1 and a half minutes
Second (frozen) sun: about 20 seconds

That adds up to over a 6 minute mission. Not short. Star 2 will be coming soon:D

Sounds interesting, but it definitely needs some drawings to go with it. Reading the design I have no idea what the planets are shaped like.

Well I do. Once I post the Gliding Canyon design, I will post this. To further clarify, the Cave planet is.... well... a rectangular cave, with a top that is actually part of the mission. There is a hole on the bottom to take a launch star to the next planet. The slide planet is really crazy (like Tall Trunk's but very different. I haven't decided if gravity will be used on the slide (It will be on the ending tunnel of the slide though)). The first sun planet is like an atom. The "center" is all lava, but the two rings are ice, and they are flat. The rings are like expanding the planet outwards, if you know what I mean. The two rings are on top of each other. The second sun planet is like the first, only the ice completely surrounds the lava center, making it a true frozen sun.

Ok I'm sure you're imagining it fine, but we'll have to see pictures to get it ourselves :P

And MC, maybe you shouldn't start a design for a galaxy someone has already designed until you know how MG3's design is received.
