I am wondering, since Whitehole already has BTI rendering code, is it possible to add a stand alone BTI editor to WiiExplorer?

Yes, but it depends on what you mean. Actual images in the archive or in models or what?

If you start going on that route, you're going to turn WiiExplorer into a huge multiformat editor...

I'd rather make a separate BTI editor or something. Or a script to convert a BTI from/to common image formats that you could then open in your favourite image editor.
