The 3D Mario for Wii U was underrated by GameSpot users. Someone chastized them for underrating the 3D Mario, which had not even been shown yet, and for being very fanatic about about GRAV's trailer. It is like when people say SMS is too progressive, then they say NSMB2, is too traditionalist. People seem to have no taste nowadays.

Underrated:

Mario kart SC - Really. People just hate this game because it is 2d and apparently, they cant get used to its control. Its a great game and it delivers the fun on how mario kart started.

Majoras mask - Gets really overlooked. I made this mistake by overlooking it, but after playing it, I realized it deserves more attention.

Super Mario Sunshine - I dont know why people hate this game. its open world exploration is a plus over SMG, and the levels are bigger than SM64.

The first 5 games of the super monkey ball series - Its a great arcade like action. Its really addictive and well done, but most people dont play it because it has monkeys as characters. (but unfortunately, the later games sucks, except for the first game on the wii)

Overrated:

MK64 - Really. One of the most overrated games I ever came across. It doesn't play well, and almost every track has some silly glitch to skip entire laps. People only like this game because of nostalgia.

COD - Do I even have to explain? :P

SMG2(to some extent) - While the game its good, most people I know tend to put this over SMG1. SMG1 was better, SMG2 felt like and expansion pack or something like that.

Super Mario Allstars - Dont get me wrong, the compilation is nice, but as always, people put this over the original because of LOL BETTER GRAPHICS. The SMB and LL remakes are broken when destroying a brick. SMB3 was really washed down out of its original feel by taking away some of the level themes (like the sunset, dark level types and some distinct level palettes), and the underground bonus areas were 'upraded' with a new colorful bonus tileset, but the music was left the same as underground and doesnt feel right. The GBA version is better though.

If SMG2 is overrated, then that means SMG2.5 will be even more overrated. LOL. However, on the online GameInformer article, there was a bit of underrating when someone said that they felt SMG2.5 might not be as great as SMG2 is.

While SMB2 isn't a literally bad game, I just hate it A LOT since it's not really a Mario game. It symbolizes one of the few times Nintendo went full lazy/retard (another example is NSMB2's music, but at least the rest of that game was good). -_-

And Wrecking Crew is just plain boring. Nothing more to say :P

Well SMB2 USA is not that bad...
Also Hotel Mario is soo bad, it cant help being not mentioned .-.

Then I dont know what to say. Wrecking crew is not bad....maybe unique.

Maybe ill hand it down to the last 2 NSMB installments, because same music and almost similar graphics...

(but honestly, there isnt too much to say about bad mario games when the only derp games cant be mentioned...)

The last two NSMB? NSMBU at least had more creativity.

Worst Mario game I have played is Mario Party Advance. Tumble is so annoying and the entire game is pretty much screwed up. You have very feq turns. More like a limit.

I've never played hotel mario, but I say mario is missing (SNES). you CAN'T LOOSE, what kind of game can't you loose? a bad one, that's what. plus it's rediculously short, and you can cheat and lookup codes.

In Mario Party Advance, Tumble should play the game itself. I am glad he has not returned as an annoying executioner in any game.

Last view: 587 days ago 		I really feel that Super Paper Mario is incredibly underrated. It has great gameplay, levels, story, music, and humor. I was also very happy that they abandoned turned based battles, something I hated about the other Paper Mario games. In my opinion, it was my favorite of the Paper Mario games.

As for an overrated game, SMG2 would be that in my opinion. Most people on here seem to think its better, even though SMG1 was vastly superior in almost every way.

Last view: 2199 days ago 		I personally think SMG1 and 2 are even. SMG2 was not trying to copy the dark and epic tone of SMG1. It was trying to be more true to Mario by making everything more bright and slightly more linear.

Last view: 2868 days ago 		Well MN1 the first 2 Paper Marios were Pure RPGS, while SPM was a 2D/3D Platformer with some RPG Elements, so I guess that means you don't like RPGS that much. Also even though I love SPM too (like every other Paper Mario) I actually found the turn based battles to be fun, since they had you play somewhat strategically, and the 2 first games were also harder for the same reason.

When Nintendo first announced Paper Mario Sticker Star's return of Turn Based Battles, everyone thought that they were trying to appeal to fans, but then it turned out that they took away almost every other RPG Element from the game, making it also a Platformer with RPG elements, but with even fewer of them (the ones which are left are pretty important though). :P

buuut sorry for offtopicness. Another game which I find heavily overrated is the legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. I mean haven't you noticed that the fans want remakes of it on every console ever after the GCN. There are like 2 huge groups whose goal is to have nintendo create Majora's Mask remakes for both Wii U and 3DS! For me, Ocarina of time is WAY better.....
