@MG3 It did, but I think having them here as well would be good. I actually agree with that Agent. But this "battle" should only be shown in the opening cutscene, because it would be hard to loop the combat animations of multiple NPC's. ____________________

Some have asked and I'm not changing my mind.
Glem3 and I will be designing this level when the time comes, and NO ONE ELSE. No matter how many ideas you may have I can guarantee that I have more and Glem3 probably does as well. I don't want to sound vain but Glem3 and I are the most experienced designers and want to do this by ourselves. If you want to know when the galaxy will be designed it will be when we are happy with all of the other Bowser Level designs so we can wrap up the game in the most epic way possible. This galaxy can wait because with time will come better ideas, and we want this to be the best. So end of story. I'm not locking this thread because I still want to be open to ideas but be warned Glem3 and I probably won't take all of them into mind. ____________________ Long live the new Kuribo64 |

Cosmo, I know there is no arguing with you, but I will do everything I can to throw every good idea I have out there. Keep in mind that this is NOT A DESIGN I am posting.
So my idea for this galaxy would be having 3 parts. Glem3 said that modifying a design for extra music wouldn't always be a bad idea. So the first part would be Bowser's attempt to drill a hole through the Edge of the Universe, using a massive drilling ship. This ship would be very advanced, and have some inspiration from the Dreadnought. The ship would have lots of the concepts that have been used in previous galaxies, until you reach the reactor to shut it down. Once at the reactor, Mario shuts it down, but it is too late, as the hole has already been drilled. Bowser and his minions go through the hole into the void. By the time Mario gets to the void, it is already too late - Bowser has reached the other side. Mario must make his way through the void. It is all bright, white light. There is no music, no sound. But eventually, after 1 minute of doing nothing, a faint sound appears and grows louder and louder. The sound is Bowser's laugh, and it is a guide to the invisible door that will lead Mario to the area beyond the universe. This final area is essentially going to feel bizarre, epic, and eerie. It will involve moving, shiny, glowing purple crystals, and shiny glowing bright chunks of ice. Since space is cold anyway, the ice is there to show that. The background will be dark matter in this final area, and other cool mystical effects could be used to show how alien yet epic this area really is. The inspiration behind this section is that Gintoki's awesome World 5 piece, and it would also make the level that much more epic. It could be some crazy gravity thing. Then the final boss battle would hit, and 2.5 would end epically. These are just my ideas. I hope they can at least inspire Cosmo's and Glem's design. ____________________

Your ideas are nice but imo it feels perhaps a bit too realistic.

I like MG3's ideas quite a bit actually. If we had the drill portion be with the hub ships trying to destroy the drill (and losing badly ) then Mario enters the void all alone, it would create a nice contrast.
Like MM said, the only problem is how to explain what to the player what is happening. NPC text isn't required reading unless it's from a luma about to transform into a launch star (which obviously we could do multiple times.) More likely we'd need some visual indications, like animations in the background triggering when Mario reaches a certain point (like, for example, when Mario reaches a certain point, we could have a set 2D camera angle and the player can see Bowser's drill drilling a hole in the universe in the background, indicating that Bowser's plan is succeeding.) ____________________ |AgentSplaturn| if someone uses an external hard disk to store porn on |AgentSplaturn| is it their sex drive? Instead of leaving the player (and Mario) confused, Glen3 and Cosmological could have a long white hallway with no music. The hallway would not cause confusion since reaching the end would be obvious. As Mario gets closer to the end of the white hallway, Bowser's laugh becomes louder and louder. When Mario reaches the end, a cutscene plays.

How exactly would we make the sound change volume based on proximity? Is there an object in the game that does that? Guys...I think we should just let Cosmo and glem make their design. If you have ever designed before, you should know how annoying it is to see people ask you to implement something while you have tons of ideas of your own.
Also, all that pointless 'white space' shit...Just sounds really bad XD ____________________

A dark matter background for beyond the edge is just a bad idea IMO.
Just the blank white space background + glow effect, but cut the laugh and the waiting. That'd just be weird. tbh, there shouldn't actually be much beyond the edge, unless Glem and cosmo have a clear idea of what's it going to look like. "Purple crystals and ice"...no... Perhaps just an empty section where Mario is dragged and falling toward whatever Bowser is using to create a new universe. I don't really like the drill thing either, as it just sounds really weird and modelling/cutscene heavy. Perhaps there's just a massive rent at the edge, with a mangled mess of twisted planets stopping the ships from going (too big). Not up to me, but oh well. ____________________ Burrow Base design- Text complete. I might try my hand at some art...maybe...eventually...? Bullet Base design- Final Frontier- (collab) There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train. Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys. |

GC, I get your opinion, I get it. But it is really up to cosmo and Glem at this point. I also talked to Cosmo about it, and said my ideas were somewhat "similar" to what he had in mind. The thing is, I don't think I elaborated on what I had to say, but there really isn't any point, as the true elaboration will come from Cosmo. ____________________

So I just made a .ast for this galaxy's music and tried it out. Even though the loop didn't work for some reason (?? maybe someone else should make the ast) it was, needless to say, epic. But it didn't work well with that Yoshi beat. So I have a question: can we edit or remove the Yoshi beats? You don't save WAVs and have them loop, you enter the loop times when importing into an ast. I'm trying to figure out what's making the beats, but I do remember this coming up before with beat block and changing the beeps.
