Red Bones? Is that even possible?

What do you mean? We're not having him in the level.

If you're talking about how a Dry Bone can become Red, I guess he just spilled paint over himself :3

tbh a red dry bones would feel out of place. We could have all the dry bones at the end (the boss) be black or grey.

Who said anything about actually having it >_< He was giving an example from PM TTYD.

I was just stating. And what do you think about having grey or black dry bones at the boss?

Wouldn't retexturing it change the color of every Dry Bone?

I still would like the majority of the Dry Bones to be their normal color, but only a few in the boss battle should be retextured.

I honestly don't know how texturing works and how it affects all the enemies.

Well, since there is no way for us to make the big dry bone a new object, I'm assuming that every other Karon will change color aswell.

You can't just change the color. It is ONE ENEMY. THEY ALL CHANGE IF ONE CHANGES.

I have an idea for the bone castle.

Mario enters the bone castle. Lucky him, it has glass walls. What the hell to do now? Oh wait, Mario does find what to do in hell now; the Boo Mushroom. Boo Mario can now go the glass walls... but wait... there are Dry Bones here! He must avoid them at all costs. Some glass walls may be moving. Boo Mario makes it to the end of the castle's first floor. There, he finds a hole going upward. This time, skylights prove to be the hazards here along with, you guessed it, more Dry Bones! The "light-less" path leads Boo Mario outside and he become regular Mario. A Launch Star at the top of the castle leads him to the next planet.

Erm. I don't really think that would fit, except the Boo-skylight-avoiding thing.
I was thinking of a small section at the beginning on an absolutely empty plain, scattered with jagged rocks and bones.
After a bit of hiking, there would be an entrance into some bone-lined dim catacombs (still empty), with a Boo Mushroom near the entrance. The catacombs would have Boo Mushroom puzzles like what you described, except with pits with passages leading back a few pits instead of Dry Bones.
The catacombs would emerge on the 1st floor of the Dry Bones Tower, with stairs up...
Yeah, that's what I was thinking for the first half of the galaxy.

This is suppose to be run-down, I don't really understand how glass and skylights managed to stay intact so many years after the Koopas died.

And I really like the ideas in gc's post.

I was thinking at the beginning, to have Mario go across a old-creppy bridge and on the bridge are those bone enemies that eat the ground. (Matter Eaters or something? I completely forgot.) but have ALOT of those guys and make the bridge really long. And also put some Dry Bones and Boos around there as well. At the end of the bridge, is dead-looking plain with Dry Bones Tower or Dry Bones Castle on a graveyard hill. The interior of the Tower/Castle will have many ghostly puzzles, consisting of Dry Bones, Boos, and Bomboos. Maybe throw in the Boo Mushroom as well. After all that, then comes Big Dry Bones, the boss.

I was thinking to have very atmospheric areas at the beginning (the empty plain and the catacombs).
I like the idea of a long bridge, but those Mattermouths wouldn't really be creepy.
Perhaps something like:
Empty bone/rock plain --> Empty catacomb, puzzles with Boo Mario -->
Emerge in an identical plain...except with a horde of Dry Bones behind
--> chase across Mattermouth bridge--> Dry Bone Castle

The player wouldn't expect any enemies after the eerily empty first areas, setting the bridge and Dry Bone horde chase up.

Sounds fine, except for the bridge part. Let's not make it too similar to Haunty Halls.

(And the name of the matter-eating enemies are Mattermouths :P)

Instead of a Mattermoutg bridge, it would be better off as a Mattermouth planet that has a black hole inside. Would it be disturbing to make the planet out of cartilage? Not human cartilage, but beef, pork, lamb cartilage.

Erm. Haunty Halls was just moving carpeted stone. A bridge could be more like the windblown ropebridge in MKW DK Mountain...with an ominous background, Mattermouths, and a horde of Dry Bones behind to stop the player from lingering...

A mattermouth cartilage planet...? Well, if it's small, that would be rather pointless, and if it's big, then it would be rather boring...

Anyway, is NSK designing this...? ;)

Instead of a bridge, there could be platforms that form the shape of a bridge. Think of it like in Matter Splatter woth all those platforms forming lines with gaps in between them. Since this is Dry Boneyard, the platforms could be made of cracked soil. Also, would it be a good idea to make the darkness in the cracks look all sparkly and magic like a twinkling star night sky?
