I think it should all take place in the factort. Say you fly to the factory and land on a warp pipe "chimney". You enter and the level begins

I just thought up of a room that has an isleway. On one side is a glass covering over a canal-gutter filed with water. The other canal-like gutter has lava. The glass covering has warp pipes connecting to it (to be filling the gutter) and resembles this.

EDIT: There could be a Leaf Raft in water gutter. Stationary Sentry Beams, Lil' Amps, and Faceless Amps could be the hazards in the above the water.

Actually, HRE, I really like that idea of a sewer-like section bridging waterworks and pipeworks.

Umm....

Toxic terror uses that

Doesn't mean we can only use it once. It's a transition in here, as well. So it doesn't have as much significance and probably shouldn't be as long.

Pipeworks' concept could be a huge transporter room: a huge load of random enemies, crates, etc. falling out of one pipe, then being moved and dumped in another pipe.
Lumberworks could be a part of an area producing/spawning/moving/storing things like wooden crates, iron bars, stone blocks, other blocks etc.

What if Bowser's treadmill is here? A treadmill is a conveyor belt after all. It would have spiked portions that you have to jump over. Some spikes would be so tall that you would have to use Spring Topmen and Purple Bouncy Sentry Beams to jump over them. Maybe even include the laser-firing Bowser Statues from Lava Lair.

TBH I think the most we should focus on the factory is the outside, with it "spawning things"
I also don't think that the conveyor belt from the original SMG2 from chompworks was all that innovative. Maybe as a small segment, but not the entire thing.

Toy Time had a conveyor belt. I don't recall one from Chompworks though. And what do you mean by the outside spawning objects? As in Bill Blasters in the factory building's exterior walls or Topmen appearing out of black wormholes on the ground?

No, like, you're not actually exploring it, you're outside the factories, which are spawning objects and enemies. Two seperate ideas.

Is it possible we could make this galaxy have hazardous smoke that hurts Mario?

Probably not, since the way to implement that would be an effect which cannot affect you in any way.

If we added an invisible hazard with the smoke, then would it work?

i guess so, but it would be easier to just make a model of some smoke and animate it with actual polygons and make that have collision. Which we still cannot yet do because of the animating part and making it look good

Isn't smoke a texture? As it is 2D. If it is 2D, then how could polygons be implemented into it? They would have to be invisible.

Actually it IS 2D but only in some cases... Which I'm not sure if we're going to do.

Why would a factory need toxic smoke in the first place?

Speaking of the gutters, I think the lava and the water would work better than the toxic smoke.

I was thinking about having more of a 'clean' factory theme for this galaxy. Like, with everything working flawlessly, Without broken parts and such.

It could easily have clean parts and broken/dirty parts of the factory.
Hmm, this galaxy would be pretty hard to design but actually not too hard to model (though it'll probably be huge).

I agree with polari, which is why I never get why it's "fearsome" factory
