It is from Spongebob. If there is an Sztec temple, no sadistic wheels of death please. They either made you fall off in the starting planet of Clockwork Ruins or crushed you to death in the other parts of Clockwork Ruins. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

Posted by Lord SSL I was thinking more of a giant swamp in the middle of the planet. ____________________

Posted by Polari Exactly, that's something I could go for. However, my original plans were for it to be a sort of jungle, so not much light comes in, but still being a bog. ____________________ "I hate playing musical chats" ~ Quote of the month |

The fog would be a great idea to conceal toxic water. If you go too fasr, you will in before you know it. It would be a nice challenge. ____________________ Super Mario LOLand Thanks to kaj for helping to port my Acmlmboard 2.5 layout to Acmlmboard 2.064! |

Polari I like that concept art. However i'll admit that I always imagined this level as a foggy mix of a NSMB Forest Level and possibly a NSMB ghost or mountain level.
Also Polari I'm guessing that picture us from Spongebob: Battle for Bikini bottom (because of the background. Also people have been talking about it lately) EDIT: MG3 I'm 99,9% sure it's an image taken from/imported from another game ____________________ Former SMG2.5 Advertiser and one-time Level Designer/Artist - So Apparently Norway is rich while Denmark and Sweden are happy. Heh, I always imagined this galaxy as a huge nonlinear fog swamped level, with a marsh (bog) at the center, and a mountain range, a forest, and a cliff surrounding it. ____________________ Burrow Base design- Text complete. I might try my hand at some art...maybe...eventually...? Bullet Base design- Final Frontier- (collab) There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it's usually an oncoming express train. Slow and steady gets you trampled by the other guys. |

Hey guys, Codybean here. I just realized that we moved to the new site, so I myself have some catching up to do!
My original idea for the galaxy was to be sub-linear, because having a huge non-linear world doused in fog proved to see a disorienting experience (I put fog in Starshine Beach Galaxy and that alone changed everything). I'd personally suggest having a sand floor so Mario's footsteps can at least be used as a reference to prevent getting lost easily. Also, big set-pieces may be underappreciated when you can barely see them, perhaps we can just compose the level out of practical objects like giant ? blocks, at least for the very beginning of the level to ease the player into the more open parts of the galaxy. Keep in mind that Foggy Bog, despite being the second-to-last galaxy, also tackles a game mechanic that the player isn't entirely familiar with. There is such a thing as good level design in a super-difficult level. That's it for now, great ideas everyone so far! |

Hmmm...so the fog effect shouldn't be too overwhelming, because the point of the fog isn't to get the player lost in a huge landscape, it's to conceal tons of ambushes and traps (e.g. putting a heavy fog effect near a cliff...).
On another note, if you could post pics of your foggy Starshine Beach, that would be very helpful in concept art. Or if somebody else could post a video of a foggy nonlinear level... Each section could be mostly linear. Like, with the swamp as the center, with paths branching off into the forests, the mountains etc. And those branch paths having a few routes to take, all boobytrapped. The fog effect allows for a lot of different traps. ____________________ Burrow Base design- Text complete. I might try my hand at some art...maybe...eventually...? I think there was a pic of foggy starshine beach on the old forum, and Foggy Throwback Galaxy is in Martboo's curiosities with switches video. ____________________
