You know, a more "ruined" version of the Arbiter's Ground (well, those pics NSK posted in the concept art thread), with many traps, would work well with optical illusions and crazy but subtle gravity changes (Maybe going through a short maze, then Launch Star which launches Mario back into a section of the maze, but changes the gravity, so the maze becomes totally different, like those Escher paintings.

Ruined archecture from Rome or the Indus River Valley should be in this galaxy. Otical illusions like from SM3DL would be here except "ruined". Yeah, optical illusion ruins being platforms are this galaxy's concept. There could be an aqueduct that you have to cross, it is an optical illusion. Then, empty gutters on the sides of paths are optical illusions along with the paths the gutters parallel.

So should this galaxy be an deadly underground 3D labyrinth, with:
-Ambushes, and traps. I can think of quite a few. :P
-Gravity shifting. e.g. a hallway stops at a wall and continues up a wall. That can make the "3D" labyrinth.
-Illusions -like weird looking walls with no collision -"corridors" that are dead ends and "dead ends" that are corridors. >:)

It could only be a big half of the galaxy. The rest could take place aboveground, on a reality warped surface.


The illusions could also include the illusions from SM3DL.

Ah, forced perspective. The objects and cameras for those will need to be very precisely set up, but it would look pretty nice.

Yeah, I could help a lot with this once I learn some more about cameras from Rean teaching me, because I've gotten to a point in figuring out my engine I'm trying to make where I need to know a lot about cameras in general.
I'm sure it's different in SMG2 but it's the same concept.

HRE...I have no idea what you mean about the aqueduct.
Anyway, IMO the galaxy should have two parts:
-a warped and crazy landscape outside
-with the land, say, at right angles with crazy gravity and rock formations.
-then an entrance into the warped labyrinth...

I am talking about ruined structures being optical illisions caused by forced perspective. They could in the warped labyrinth.

2D levels have the camera axes restricted. If we are able to do that in an open world, the player will only have one view, the "illusion" view.

I was thinking for the landscape to be psychodelic and confusing to navigate, and the labyrinth to be the more "death trap" part.

HRE, you mean using lighting to make a ditch look like a ridge or something?

hm, I really like the idea of having crazy rock formations. It's a part of what cosmo originally wanted for Shrapnel Sandbar Galaxy, except with err...Sand.

When I think about this galaxy, the first thing I think about is the Temple of the Gods from TLoZ- Wind Waker. Maybe we could get some inspiration from that and just make it a bit more worn-down and sandy? And make it have a lot more traps and jerkish placements.

Yeah, this I think galaxy should have an Aztec temple or something. Clockwork Ruins wasn't given a pyramid shaped temple. Hmm... What ancient civilization(s) should we use?

You guys keep worrying about the art style when cosmo hasn't even decided yet. Sure it's nice to have ideas, but if cosmo has his own ideas, he's gonna try to stick to them.

Hmm... I am surprised no one gas mentioned Tox Boxes yet. They are part of puzzles, their faces are puzzles, and they fit the ancient mood. And considering this is World 7, Tox Boxes are a nice challenge here.

They....aren't really puzzles, TBH. The most you could do with them is platforming like in Stone Cyclone

But the way their faces are set up look like an illusion of some sort. Remember that the Flipswitch Cgain from Toy Time also had Tox Boxes. What I see that makes Tox Boxes a puzzle is that they invlove strategies, which is whst this galaxy is about especially with illusions. It is all up to Cosmo though since he is designing this galaxy.

Yesh, that's no different from what I mentioned. The Stone Cyclone platforming is the same thing in Toy Time. You have to figure out the safe spot and wait. There's no real challenge other than testing your patience.
