The main planet of this galaxy should look like a cross between Venus (surface) and the sun.
So, pretty hard to model, as the planet would consist of a mass of volcanoes and ridges sticking up through lava, but it would be a straightforward path winding around the planet.

Actually, can the volcanoes in SMG erupt more than once? Of course, it isn't too important (many of them), but yeah...

That's exactly what I was thinking, not something plain, variety.
About the volcanoes, IDK. I would think the one in Yoshi Star was an area trigger based on the way it acted but I couldn't tell you for sure.

The volcano in Yoshi Star is triggered whenever you get close to the fumarole. To add variety here, would coal and sulfur platforms be interesting?

Or even better, can we enlarge it?

An enlarged Yoshi Star volcano for Whitehot, do you mean?

Yes. It would require retexturing though, to preserve detail

Ehehehe...
I wasn't thinking of enlarging it...
I was thinking of sticking 10 of them or so at slightling varying sizes on the same planet. Google pictures of Venus' surface. Something like that. Layered with lots of lava, and a few Melty Molten-like black rock spires and ridges

Ewww, that'd look really ugly, considering how the Yoshi Star volcano was never meant for a lava galaxy in the first place.

Also, NWP, isn't the volcano's eruption triggered by a switch? Martboo proved that it's possible to make it erupt using a ground-pound switch in one of his videos.

Seems like it'd be better to model our own volcanos and only use the explosion from Yoshi Star.

I suppose so, yeah.
And it's usually a proximity sensor. As the level should be linear, winding around the planet, each volcano should erupt at least once, but hopefully they can erupt more than once. Hmm.

The area trigger IS a switch xD It switches on the "eruption"

Yes, considering that the volcano is part of the planet in the first place.

Glassy rock could be used in this galaxy as a platform material. It could work for a volcano model. However, this galaxy needs imgenious platforming on lava. Glass cirlces rising in and out of lava could be used for a section of the lava platforming.

You mean smooth glossy rock or clear glass?
IMO the only land in this galaxy should be blackened rock/obsidian, with only small ridges and fragments of it above the lava.
Meteors, fireballs, Burn Bits, Magmaarghs, Podoboos, Magmaws...yeah.
This'll hopefully be an epic looking lava galaxy with real difficulty. It's W6. :P

"Smooth glossy rock". And yes, obsidian should also be used. Magmaarghs obviously chomp on square or small platforms. Magmaws could be used on a section with long metal cage platforms that sink in the lava. Meteors would make a nice challenge on lava planetoids. Blue Podoboos could go in a section with narrow obsidian platforms. Podoboos (the ones jumping out if the lava, like Gravity Gauntlet) would be in 2D section, like how they were in Gravity Gauntlet.

Well, I don't think there should be square platforms or any, you know straight, smooth platforms. More like random jagged irregular spires and ridges sticking up. Isn't a castle, just a wasteland.

This. This is why we're using the idea of planets a lot more. This is galaxy, save the platforms for NSMB games and 2D sections.

Well I didn't necessarily mean only square clean platforms in a larger flat platform made if lava. What I conceptualized was like the fallen, sunken, irregular spires in random places. You would need to get across those while avoiding Magmaws. And the spires would be on round lava planets.

Ok, guys, let's try to make this not TOO similar to Gliding Inferno. It needs an awesome attraction so people won't confuse the 2 galaxies.

Well, GI has a battle section for the front half. And it's on Fluzzard.
While this is just lava spam.

If this galaxy was spread between small planets, it really wouldn't have the same effect. The small lava planets can be saved for Star 2. And it's not just platforms, more "natural" ridges sticking out, unidentifiable melted debris and on sides of volcanoes.

Designed so that one false step dooms Mario. Essentially a daredevil run, unless the player gets lucky and Mario doesn't keep running off the sides of rocks during the burn animation. Though there should be quite a few checkpoints to keep it from being too evil.

A white dwarf in the middle of the galaxy. And white-hot (pun intended) lava in addition to normal lava too.
