The security freaks at Google decided to lock me out of my Gmail.
yep, being a major pain in the ass to travelers is much better than the possibility of accounts getting hacked. Google also loves being random! I have another Gmail (for personal/IRL shit) that I connected to fine, I just got the "connection from a new device" email. But this one? God forbid! We will have you prove your identity just because! basically, don't try to email me for important shit until I sort this out. Use this board or IRC. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

I figured I'd let everyone know about this. People who ie. ask for an unban or whatever shit, now know to not email me and wait for a reply that isn't coming anytime soon.
I might be able to recover the old ISP-email's password from a Thunderbird profile in one of my backups. But there's the chance that said backup is on an external HDD that stayed home. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Yes. This so much. Last week I tried buying an app from the play store (Nova Launcher Prime if interested) and since it was my first purchase ever, it asked me to enter my credentials. Me, being kinda tired, put in the password 3 times wrong. "PLEASE USE BACKUP EMAIL" - an email I haven't used in 5 years... I had the 2 step verification with my phone, why could I not choose to send a code as an SMS? Took like 3 hours and then I finally got in after a bit of rest. Luckily I managed to do all this before the sale of that app was over. |

ugh. I hate when sites go YOU FAILED THREE TIMES, YOU'RE PERMANENTLY LOCKED OUT UNTIL YOU DO THIS.
I know they're trying to protect against password-guessing bots, but you don't need to make the lockdown permanent. This board locks you out for like 15 minutes after 5 failed attempts, for example. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

at least they aren't Microsoft |

a good thing of being here is that I can connect to my gmail without them deciding that I'm a hacker.
what did I miss? absolutely nothing. a slew of crap. a banned moron trying to beg for an unban. another moron who thinks I have access to the NSMBHD server. and a floody moron dodging my autoresponder by emailing from another email lots of fun. ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Posted by StapleButter I'm not sure, but I thought secret questions would be worded in a way so it's a specific detail in your life that you can remember, like the name of your elementary school, the name of your first pet, etc. |

You should just set up a home mail server or the email service this site's host provides, if you can.
Though there are those sites that only allow the top 5 mail sites and nothing else with a message saying 'use this broken contact form if you don't have one or fuck you' I use mail.com, because I don't have a phone, but several sites block them for 'spam', and phpBB boards can't send activation mail to them. |

heh, 'd be nice (and probably feasible, dunno how involved tho) one thing I would miss from Gmail would be its spam filter, though, as well as the autoresponder/etc feature (convenient when dealing with floody morons) ____________________ NSMBHD - Kafuka - Jul melonDS the most fruity DS emulator there is zafkflzdasd |

Looks professional too, even if your attitude is more laid back than anything.
You could install a spam filter on the mail server - or rely on your email program to sort out that Nigerian/Chinese trash, too. (^^) As for the auto responder, ditch that and just ignore them because floody morons just want a reaction, don't they? Just sort out emails that match certain patterns into a folder and ignore them. (^o^) (If that's possible, of course, but it should be rather easy for you. Might also give you something nice to work on and relax with.) |

Posted by StapleButter You could use Google Apps for that, but that costs money. Another way is to use Outlook for Domains (?), but that's Microsoft. So indeed, the only way to not pay monthly, and not to rely on Microsoft, is to set up your own Mail Server. |

Let me correct that for you: 'Micro$hite'
Then again, there's the problem of you being unable to update the address for whatever reason, on a board/blog/etc. |
