I decided to try out SMG stage modding again, but whitehole is playing up. I've got the StageData and ObjectData folders, but when I load the containing folder, it never displays the level list...

Any idea what might be wrong?

Load the root directory of the game.

I did load the root folder, wihout the non-objectdata/stagedata folders. I guess I'll rip the files from my disc again in case they are messed up somehow. Unless there is some obvious problem?

This is SMG1 btw

SMG1 is not supported by Whitehole anymore, I believe. I think they stopped supporting it around version 1.2. SMG1 has a different file system than SMG2 and it uses different file formats, so to make the coding more simple (and because SMG2 is much more workable) they stopped SMG1 support.
Sorry.

either you're spouting complete and total bullshit (and in that case you'd better shut up)

or you're right and that's a completely absurd decision they took

would someone link me to whatever Github repo they're using? SunakazeKun has a fork of Whitehole but there are no changes

ok why don't you actually do research before you spout out what you THINK is the right answer?

Whitehole still supports SMG1, would we blindly remove it without giving any warning? ugh.

Sorry about misleading you Hiccup. I thought SMG1 wasn't supported because of a thread where it said all the SMG2 hashes were supported but not all the SMG1 ones were, so Whitehole would crash every time the user clicked on certain objects (like Areas). Also I tried using SMG1's files in Whitehole like you but I had the same problem as you did, so I ended up replacing those with SMG2's files and Whitehole worked and then I got the idea (with my experience and the thread stated before) that SMG1 wasn't supported in Whitehole or had very limited support so that it was basically unusable.

So sorry about the misinformation.

I've moved onto the latest version, and I'm using definitely-correct files and its working now.
Thanks to the people that tried to help, anyway.
