I guess one nice thing about my school is that if the teacher keeps you late, usually they write you a pass so it's fine if you're late to the next class.

Oh man. Reminds me of that retarded system they had at middle school here.

Whenever you were late, you had to get a 'late ticket' made and signed, making you even more late. Way to go, morons.

At high school they technically had it too, but they never enforced it.

I still loathe how teachers can be like 30 minutes late and you're supposed to wait for them all that time like it's no big deal. Meaningwhile, be 10 seconds late and omg it's the worst thing ever and we need to notify everyone up to the president.

Human rights? Why would students need that? They aren't humans, they are learning automatons.

It doesn't help when you get called out when you're 10 seconds late to class.

Some of my teachers are like that, only stricter. Also, some teachers lock the doors right when the tardy bell rings, so if you barely manage to get to class, if the doors are locked, then you're screwed.

Some teachers in my school do that. The others, though, don't. So if you have a teacher who won't write you a late pass and keeps you late a lot, and your next class is on the other side of school, and you have a heavy bookbag weighing you down, and your next teacher doesn't care that you had to stay in and gives you detention, you might as well change your schedule. Such a combination in my school is possible, sadly.

Locking doors? Wow. What a bunch of retards.

This doesn't even happen here. I believe there's a rule that forbids it because fire safety. You need to be able to quickly leave the room if there's a fire.

Reminds me of how in 7th grade, our Social Studies teacher came 30-40 minutes late every lesson in the first few weeks. Those weeks were nice, because she was complete shit.

My school tends to do a bunch of stupid shit. This year they decided to cut funding for a lot of things (killing a few clubs and neglecting any school supplies like paper and pencils, which we still need) to get chromebooks for the students. Oh goody. Not to complain much about them, because in reality they are okay, but are very restrictive. They are forcing them down our throats too, the teachers HAVE to use them for most of class, so usually note taking, which is just fine really.

This sucks most for the programming classes, imagine having to use a limited, mostly broken web IDE for java. The best part? There are rooms in the building with windows computers, so why aren't we in those rooms for this class? A few of them are CAD classes, but some are just kinda empty a lot of the time.

I guess I should touch on the actual class a bit though, because they really are meh bordering on bad. Programming 1 goes over python up to a point. As much as I think python is a good language on its own, I feel like they should start with something slightly more, I guess the word im looking for is formal. there is definitely a better word to use in this situation, but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Anyway, in programming 2 they switch to java and javascript. Since i've just started the course I can't really say much about it other than it seems a bit scatter brained at times and doesn't know if it wants to focus more on java or javascript, which can make it feel a bit disjointed at times. I think they really should stick to a single language too instead of having it change between the years, or at least have the languages be closer in how they work.

I see a lot of people here saying they have about 2-3 minutes to get to class, I think recently my school changed our between class time to about a minute and a half. If a teacher holds you after the bell, you probably won't make it to class on time unless you are really close to it. Gosh, this is probably the longest post i've made on this board so far.

"Java and Javascript"

hints that the moron who planned those courses doesn't know shit about them, and assumed they were the same thing

"web IDE"

who in the hell would make such a thing

Remember, "Java" and "JavaScript" are as different as a "Car" and a "Carpet", and yet non-Programmers tend to mix the first 2 up, but not the last 2...

But isn't a carpet just a regular car that you regularly pet?

"Holding students after class, making them miss out the next one"

This reminds me. When I first started my school, it was like this. However, they changed that so we students will only had to stay in one classroom, to prevent all the fuzz. It wasn't until the final 2 years we had to do this again, for some reason. But they weren't restrictive as in 1 and a half minute. IIRC they gave us 5 mins in general, and depending on the teacher, we could take up as much as 10 mins.

Same here; I don't know what's the deal with restricting inter-class times to something ridiculous like one minute or 20s.

We always had 5min of interclass time here. Or 15/20min for the breaks.

So last Monday, I was late to English class, nothing terribly bad, but derpass teacher badgered me about it.

Today, I try waking up earlier to have a better chance to be on time. Leave home at 7:15 to catch the bus at 7:36.

The bus arrives at ~8:00, completely trashing my effort at waking up earlier. Amazing.

Bus enters freeway, total fucking traffic jam. Worst conditions. Stuck in that shit for one fucking hour.

In the end I am 45 minutes late. Of course, that dumbass teacher badgers me again. On the presence sheet you get a little R marking when you're late, amazing, we're back to middle school. Two strikes already. Apparently a third is terrible and unacceptable. What happens? Getting thrown out? Dare throwing me out, asshole. Don't even consider it.

Why is it such a crime to be late anyway? Okay, there are contexts where being late is undesirable, like when you're a bus driver, or when you're serving clients. But this is none of those contexts. Me being late doesn't mean the course has to start later or become shorter. It doesn't magically make other people fail or forget what was going on. I'm the only one who has to deal with the consequences. At worst it's one minute of disturbance, the time for me to take place. See, it's nothing. And yet, some moronic teachers decide to make a big deal out of it. And then they claim that being late is bad because everyone loses time, but they're the ones causing that time loss.

He/she probably doesn't know about the traffic jams. Had (s)he known, (s)he wouldn't have been badgering on you in the first place.

She knows, but nope, it's not an excuse. You are supposed to somehow guess they will happen and take the needed measures to avoid them.

Oh and that fucking idiot also assumed I had a car. Just because I mention traffic jams doesn't mean I have my own car; do you know what busses are and where they go?

Since you said you live in Paris, why don't you take a Metro?
I don't think, there would be any Traffic Jams underground.

I don't live in Paris. I'm somewhere near it, but in a total fucking shithole where getting to any interesting place is a total pain.
