"In 2008, I created a PC game, and it was awesome. In 2015, I created that same game for the 3DS, and it was even more awesome."

2008. There's this dude in school who's a few years older than me. I have no idea how we got talking, but he mentions this program called "Game Maker". 8 year old me, totally amazed by this awesome find, goes home very excitedly and checks if this program actually exists. It does. It's like a dream coming true. Creating my own games, wow. Hype.

Two days later, the magnificent product called "Beertje", or simply "Bear" in English, rolls down the product line. It is the very first game ever made by me, and it looks like this:

It looks fine in native resolution, but you definitely don't want this masterpiece smeared across your 1080p monitor.

Since then, every time I learn a new language (in which you can write games), I recreate my all-time classic: Bear. There's even a port for my calculator. So here it is: bear for the 3DS.

The game does not support the circle pad! Play with the D-pad! The gameplay is too fast for the circle pad anyway! Press "SELECT" at any time to return to the homebrew menu.

Current known issues:
  • The music does not stream well after it loops. This is a problem with the LUA interpreter, I can't do anything about it.

Oh cool, that's an actual native game and not some web crap.

Why are the screenshots so big, though?

I'll scale them down. Didn't think of lower resolutions :p.

Not what I meant. The 3DS's screens are 400x240 and 320x240. I just didn't see why the screenshots were bigger. Were they artificially scaled up, or were they taken from some fake-3DS type setup you used for development?

Ah, they were taken from Citra. That's why the resolution is not true to the original. The game fully works on Citra btw, it's just a bit slow.

Oh, that.

Might try it out. Will tell you about it if I do.

Ah cool, you finally posted this. I'll definitely try it out soon, maybe tonight.

Tried it out. Managed to get a score of 10217 on my 3rd try in Classic Mode, and 4023 in Hard Mode.

You gain points more easily in Hard Mode. Ten times faster than in classic, to be precise!
If you want to play Hard, just hit "right" on the title screen. Expect to die a lot, though!
