Your only other options I can tell are to try the other methods, or see if you can't download the needed drivers separately (I seriously don't recommend that, as there are too many shady sites).

Um...I happen to know of a site that made the difference for me at one point: www.laptop-software.com. I know, the site seems anything-but-legitimate, and indeed it is covered in obviously-malicious ads, but if you can find the real links, they have tons of drivers, even ones you wouldn't expect to exist (XP/Longhorn Drivers for a craptop that shipped with Vista, for example). Fingers crossed this is of some use :|

Dang, this would've been helpful to me earlier... oh well. (lots of Acer)

What's your computer's specs? (Computer > right click > Properties)

See if you can't give us your Windows edition, and.... basically everything under System. :P
