These're the emulators that run really well for me, feel free to say differently. :I

(Using Windows 7 & 8) Emulators:

Arcade: MAME & Dolphin - MAME: Only REMOTELY good one - Dolphin: There's a version compatible with Triforce

NES/FDS: FCEUX - No choppy lag like a lot of others, and tons of features, including FDS compatibility, and LUA scripts.

SNES: ZSNES - Some say it's bad, I guess? But it works perfectly for me up to windows 8.1. It's easy to use, plays without lag or skipping.

Mega Drive/CD: Gens - No lag, great compatibility, and doubles as Mega Drive and Mega CD emulaor.

Game Gear: Kega Fusion - Only thing close to good I could find, lags a lot.

Neo Geo/Pocket: NeoPop - Runs Sonic Pocket Adventure perfectly, that's really all anyone cares about.

GB/GBA: Visual Boy Advance - No lag, doubles as GB and GBA, AND it has some e-card features.

N64: Project64 1.6 - 1.6 is the most stable version of PJ64, but I'd keep the latest version too.

GC/Wii: Dolphin - Only emulator (I kind of hope somebody picks up where the developer left off).

DS: no$gba - No lag, compatibility is great. Visuals and sound, not so much. Current version is Debug, great for ASM hacking.

Android (yes really): BlueStacks - Basically functions like a real Android tablet, not compatible with some apps, but what Android has 100% compatibility? It plays mostly everything, with little to no lag depending on your computer.

The point of this thread is for people to better know the emulators out there.

And remember, Google is your friend! ;)

'best' depends on which criteria you consider, so saying 'best' in general, without details, is bullshit.

As an example, ZSNES is probably the 'best' if you're playing on a 486, but everyone will tell you that it's the worst as far as accuracy is concerned.

Dolphin is obviously the best Wii emulator though, as it's the only one :P

That's why this thread is asking about what everybody else "uses and/or thinks are the best".

Basically, this is an opinion thread. :I

Sure. But you didn't provide details as to why you think those emulators you listed are the 'best'.

Gameboy emulator: BGB, because it got detailed debug functions and it emulate most accurate. I always use it to program my gameboy stuff with it.

I used DeSmuME for developing lolSNES, mostly because it's the only one that supports DLDI emulation.

I also generally use DeSmuME for anything DS-related because better audio quality and overall accuracy.

SNES9x is my favorite for SNES stuff since it was the first one I found online. I only use ZSNES when necessary (broken SMW hacks I'm looking at you).

FCEU for NES stuff, but I rarely ever deal with that.

Don't really mess around with anything else but it's likely I'll use VisualBoyAdvance for GBA stuff since that's what I have on my hard drive.

ZSNES for me. While it may suck, it works with the games I play, and I havent encountered something that would bog down my experience. Biased because it was the first emulator I ever used to emulate a console.

DeSmuMe because its the better alternative.

VBA because its the only gba emulator that I know.

ePSXe, same as above.

PPSSPP, really great PSP emulator that is well coded. Just to mention, I can finely play most PSP games with minimun lag, while on the DS, some games generate slowdown.

Dolphin because yes.

FCEUX this time around. I used to use Nestopia, but those days are long gone. FCEUX FTW.

Project64 because dunno.

NES: Nestopia
SNES: higan-accuracy, because might as well have the most accuracy?
N64: Mupen64Plus
GB: Gambatte
GBA: mGBA
GC/Wii: Dolphin
